ACC And SEC And Others Need To Wipe The Slate Clean ---

Nov 15, 2022, 7:09 AM

Other than the rivalry games at the end of the regular season.....ACC and SEC and other Power Conferences needs to schedule random games with one another for 4 years. Then after the 4 years SEC will play Big 12 for 4 years. ....ACC...plays Big 10 for 4 years.....etc.. No home and home series...just whoever is scheduled is who will play at their respective campuses. Each year it will be lets say ...different ACC or SEC opponents going at it.

Example ==

Year 1

UNC at Ole Miss
Vanderbilt at Miami
Tennessee at Virginia
Clemson at Missouri
Virginia Tech at LSU
NC State at Ole Miss ...etc...

Year 2

Miami at Tennessee
Mississippi St. at Louisville
Texas at Wake Forest
Virginia Tech at Arkansas
LSU at Georgia Tech
Kentucky at Clemson....etc...

Year 3

Louisville at Oklahoma
Florida at Boston College
Auburn at Syracuse
Alabama at Pitt
Florida St. at Kentucky
Chickenlina at Miami...etc...

Year 4

Pitt at Kentucky
Syracuse at Missouri
Georgia at Florida St.
Auburn at Duke
Wake Forest at Florida
Oklahoma at NC State....etc...

Next 4 Year Set/Switch

Year 1

Ohio St. at Florida St
Virginia Tech at Purdue
Maryland at Louisville ....etc...

Year 2

Indiana at Clemson
Iowa at Georgia Tech
Penn St. at UNC....etc...

Year 3

Wisconsin at NC State
Illinois at Miami
Virginia at Michigan ....etc...

Year 4

Duke at Rutgers
Clemson at Michigan State
Florida St. at Minnesota ....etc...

Just think of a Conference vs Conference challenge for 4 years.

Each team can keep having their 1 or 2 cupcakes they play every year. ...as well as everyone's regular conference schedule.

I think it will better smooth out the confusion of the rankings and rankings for the playoffs.

No more ducking or being skeered.

Could also be done in first game

Of season as a sort of reverse bowl game scenario

With the playoffs all of the other bowls are useless. This would create a pre-season buzz

Plus an early loss is forgiven so it wouldn’t be as detrimental to a season as it would be if it were super late in the season

The regular season is not as important as you think it is.***

Love the idea, but why would the SEC want to change anything re: out of conference games?

In the current 4 team CFP format, the SEC routinely gets 2 teams in it.

If I'm Greg Sankey, I'll push my conference to play OOC games against lower tier teams in the Big 12, Pac 12, and ACC.

Avoid the upper tier OOC teams.

SEC will still end up with the disproportionate presence in the CFP (even after expansion).

If you notice when these SEC teams play an OOC game against a decent team they either play it at home or a "Neutral" field that is usually in the same state as the SEC team so it makes it a home game for the SEC team.

Fact check needed. If there have been years that 2 SEC teams made the Playoffs, what are their records and do those records show they deserved to be there?

“SEC routinely gets 2 teams in” - apparently

Nov 15, 2022, 11:26 AM

routinely is 25% of the time - 2 of 8- good chance its going to be 2 of 9. The 2 times they did that it took serous deficiencies in other conferences to accomplish that. Heck last year, things were so bad the CFP had to turn to a 2nd SEC team and a Gof5 AAC team. 1 loss conference champs still greater than 1 loss non champs. Heck - the ACC got 2 in in 2020. Nipping at the heels of the SEC.

Schedules are set for the next 8-10 years so that will not happen. Who knows what college football and conferences will look like by 2030.
