After rewatching the Spring Game (QB)

I think aside from the one overthrow (INT), that Zerrick looked the most poised and ready to take the job. He has been raved about in recent scrimmages and his mobility is a step above what we all thought. Right now, he has the most arm talent and upside. His poise is what impresses me the most. As a spectator, I felt the most confident with him in the game. Had that Deshaun-like quiet confidence. Race is between him and Bryant.
I don't know how much the pinky affected Kelly's throwing, I would imagine a lot. But, I can see why Dabo and Co love him. His escapability is elite and I think we should be a heavier run team with a ton of RPOs if he does keep the job. I also would imagine there would be more screens implemented and called.
Hunter looked to have the gun slinger mindset which is to be expected from such a green player. The talent is undeniable but I don't think starting Freshman year is the best case for the team. He will give you amazing moments like the amazing over shoulder throw to Overton but he still looked rattled for most of his time . Some of this was contributed to the horrific snaps we saw and an elite defense. I feel less confident with this prediction than the other three. He could ball out in the fall and ultimately take the job. I'm completely ok with that.
Although Tucker had arguably the best day on paper, I still don't think he possesses all the dynamic tools to win the job. Dabo even mentioned a part of that in his post game. Ultimately, talent wins out and Tucker rides the pine.

I would tend to agree with this. Bad snaps or not Hunter was definitely nervous and a little rattled most of the game it felt like. I did like the way Cooper commanded everything. Wasn't his greatest day throwing but his last drive was a thing of beauty. Marched the team down the field and was in control. I honestly think he would thrive with the entire first team at his disposal. He has all the tools

Lots of work to do before the season starts for all of them. I think it's premature to count Johnson out just yet.

Agreed. Wasn't counting him out. Just a prediction based on what we know right now. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if he had the starting job by Auburn. Just hope they all improve before then, I think Zerrick provides the bets skill set to run our offense and get playmakers the ball.

and only half of it was on each side -- this will make you ""not look so good"" -- summer prep & fall practice, will be what molds this team into shape for another run -- the best has yet to come !!!!

I completely agree. We as Clemson fans have been spoiled by DW4 and desire something as close as him as possible when this isn't the reality. I will take an Auburn 2013 type of offense with our defense and let it take us back to the CFP and see how it goes from there any day. As much as many on this board wants to see HJ take the job, it's not in the best interest of the team to put him in as a starter. The guy was barely a 50% passer and threw for under 3000 yards in Indiana high school football whereas KB, ZC and TI faced better hs competition than him. Yes he has the measurables but I saw a guy that will crumble under pressure and he only faced half of our defensive starters yesterday. Also putting him in that position could hurt him from a confidence and development standpoint bc of you know who is arriving next year. You also don't want to waste a potentially top 3 defense this year waiting around for him to find his way. People on here posting that this is another Stoudt/DW situation really don't know football. KB is a way better option in this offense than CS ever was, and HJ couldn't hold DW4 jock strap. Ultimately the presence of a good running game will be most beneficial b/c this helps any and every qb out.

No I'm not basing my opinion on tnet experts. I base it on what the coaches have said and the reason he was recruited. Hunter has been here 15 weeks, barely had any reps with the 1 st unit and I didn't see him as being " rattled " yesterday.
He made some good reads. True, the games got to slow down a bit but imo he's the best option for our current/ past 7 years of offense schemes. Again, 15 weeks and I'd say pretty darn good.
That being said, I'd like to see him and ZC get the first team reps.

With our defensive front and depth ...most QB's we face this year will look unsure and rattled .
If not all.

This is true, bit i wouldn't waste a year with a guy that didnt face good competition in hs, that passed for barely 50%, threw for under 3000 yards against subpar competition get handed the keys to a maserati jist because hes 6'5 and has an arm. I'm good with the other 3 taking the field befoee him

He was 5-13 yesterday.........had similar numbers in the past 2 scrimmages. 2 good throws in games doesn't mean you get the job

Wow, I am so glad our coaches are really crappy recruiters to get such poor HS talent. Obviously they didn't have ur numbers and knowledge of his career. Fire Dabo for not knowing.

Tucker was the best alltime in Florida for a reason. Writing him off would be like wtiting Renfro off. Both have strengths that sidestep "not too tall".

I don't doubt his arm talent but if you rewatch, a lot of his throws were premeditated. His dump downs were impressive and he knows where to go with the ball no doubt. But I don't think he poses the necessary run threat capability that makes our offense go. Love Tucker, but even Dabo was hesitant to talk about him until asked. And when he did he was complimentary but made the comment about having all the tools. Tells me they believe more in the other three. All Just my humble opinion.

I agree with this assessment. I think Cooper embodies the closest we have to being a complete QB in our system. I hate Bryant injured his finger because I really wanted to see him throw the football, because his ability to run is undeniable. I think the starting job will ultimately be between Bryant and Cooper.

Hunter did not look rattled. He took what, 25 snaps and FIVE

of them were either in the dirt or over his head. Those snaps put him in 2nd and 3rd and longs almost every time. Then, he had several drops. I thought Kelly looked the worst of all 4. He had all day to throw and missed everybody. Maybe it was his finger. But, I thought that if CLelin Ferrell had been on the WHite team instead of the Orange team, then the white team would have won. Hunter and Zerrick did not have near the time that Kelly and Israel had to throw. On top of that, Deon looked like he thought Saturday was just "Practice". Based on what I saw yesterday, Tee Higgins will get a big opportunity this fall...

Totally agree with your assessment. Said it much better than I but I saw the same thing you saw. Jmo but I think the coaches wanted it set up for kb to have more time to throw... because he is the starter.
My nephew said listening on the radio they were saying kb finger was a non issue. Idk to me it's like he goes back to what he's comfortable with and that's run first.
