Major

A lot depends on your major. Choose engineering and it better be high. Choose education where teachers are needed and you have better chance.

I heard the sports comm progam is hard to get into

Put that as her primary major, but put something really easy to get into (Agriculture maybe?). That will increase her odds.

Major is important

They are pretty strict with out of state students from my experience taking people with very strong scores and class rank to look good for the school comparison metrics. If the student is not real strong credential wise, they likely offer the bridge program.

As noted earlier, major matters. I am in state and three of my kids graduated from Clemson (2016 through 2020) and my fourth child is a freshman now. I can tell you that the average SAT is at least 1310 now which is higher than it was 10 years ago as applications have risen from around 33,000 to something like 54,000 this year. I have to think that the out of state SAT average is a little higher and that 48% of the class of 2026 is from out of state which is higher than it has been. Truth be told, I think they should cap out of staters at 35-40% but I am sure that economics (out of state kids pay more) comes into play. Also, don’t expect Clemson to offer as much in scholarships as some other schools do to get your child to comer here- Clemson doesn’t have to.
