Anyone know anything about Miami/South Beach?

I"m eyeballing the Ritz Carlton for a couple of nights in late July because it's the only nice hotel I can find with ocean front rooms that aren't $1200/night. It looks like it's up on 17th street. How close is this to the action down South? Keeping in mind that I'm not interested in going clubbing or any of that jazz, but I do want access to the restaurants and honeys.

Gonna bounce down to the Keys for a week or so after spending a couple of nights here and trying to plan it all out. Any other tips are appreciated.
