At the Masters

Tiger Woods has withdrawn. No surprise, after watching him yesterday this was predictable.

I really wondered if making the cut was something he wanted other than tieing he record. He looked miserable.

I think he will be like Hogan. Once he feels he can't win he won't tee up in events. And physically he seems to be getting to that point. Plus age wise he is entering that mid to late 40s area where even great players seldom win.

I told my wife he probably was thinking 'crap, I was ready to put my foot up with a heating pad' instead of slogging around in rainy, upper 40s temps.

He definitely looked miserable.

He was really struggling on the wet soppy ground with cold conditions.

Hopefully, he can put together another major, but I think he is content either way.

He tied the all time record of consecutive cuts made this

year, at 23. Will he be content to share that record with Freddie Couples and Gary Player, or will he come back next year to try and break it?

I think it has everything to do with how well he can physically perform in the last three Majors this year. If he has similar physical issues, he probably will not tee it up next April. But, Tiger has always been record driven, so he may give it one more go, just to try and own the cuts made record outright. If he doesn't make it, at least he would never have to wonder, "What if?"

Edit: CBS says the record is shared with Freddie and Bernhard Langer, not Gary Player.
Or as Hord Hardin used to like to say, even after being corrected, "Burnurd".

he was in an interview and stated the ankle/foot was hurting pretty bad. He didn't even play a full round before Thursday and was hurting pretty bad after round 1. I can't blame him with the added wet/cold/slippery conditions.

Him even showing up and trying, just lets you know how

badly he STILL wants Jack Nicklaus 18 Professional Majors Won record.

The ultimate irony is, the self inflicted injuries to his leg he sustained in that speeding automobile accident will in all likelihood be the thing that takes away any chance of it happening.

Yea. I told my wife yesterday when he had a bogey and double bogey in the first 3-4 holes of the 3rd round that I figured he would WD overnight.
