Bourbon Drinkers

This is my very first post on TN and I’ve seen a few Bourbon post over the years. I don’t claim to be a bourbon snob but I’ve tried well over a hundred bourbons over my 60 years on this earth and I’ve had low end all of the way to PVW. My favorite everyday Is Weller when you can find it. But for the $ I love Noah’s Mill. The proof is high but it’s so darned smooth . I drink it with a cube of ice. It’s less than $50 per bottle and it’s a great bourbon. Just wanted to share one mans humble opinion with my fellow Tiger buds! Go Tigers!

Sounds yummy....will put in the list.
I tried Bluff Springs last night...it was very much like Buffalo Trace...very smooth. Enjoyed it! BT is my standard go to, so Bluff is nice to know when Trace isn't available.

If you like Buffalo Trace, try Blanton’s. It’s hard to get but the they had it on the last cruise I went on in the ships liquor store for $60 a bottle. It’s the smoothest bourbon I have ever had.

I love Blanton’s but it’s just under $200 for a 5th right now. Went up to Ky to visit an old Marine buddy and couldn’t even find it. He did have some PVW though ??

I am all about the Blanton's. It is pretty widely available in Middle Tennessee where I live. Definitely expensive though.

You can like both Gin and Bourbon and not be mentally deficient, especially since Gin has the virtue of reducing swelling in your joints. Gimlets are good and good for you.

I have a bottle of MD2020 from the 80’s that was a gag gift in my office. Every year the person who got the MD2020 from the previous year would gift it to another person. I was the last one to get it before everyone else retired. I was the last man standing so I still have it to this day. How do you think it would taste today? ??

old that has been drinking bourbon since before I was under 21 (don’t tell anyone). I have several bottles of the “better” bourbons but I am an Early Times fan. I know it’s cheap, and is at the bottom of the bourbon totem pole, but I was raised on it...meaning I would sneak some from my mother. Buffalo Trace, et al are smooth but I enjoy the “bite” I get from my ET. Most cocktail parties I go to have a choice of Makers or Jim Beam. I always ask for the Jim Beam. Guess I’m just a bourbon red neck, but I sure do like it.!
Funny story. A friend of mine, who doesn’t drink, told me that his father used to fill a glass of ice almost to the top with bourbon and then put a splash of water in it. He once asked, “Dad, why do you even bother putting any water in it?” He replied, “Son, if you drink this stuff straight it will kill you.”

I have a bourbon bar many of you would envy. Wellers,Blantons, etc, but 10 years old McKenna single barrel is high on the list . BT is my everyday favorite. Enjoying some very old Barton’s right now. Only good thing to come out of Ky. Is it’s bourbon. Including D Boone!

Kentucky Owl is a very good bourbon. I live in Bardstown, KY (the bourbon city capital of the world) where we have a speakeasy bar that offers bourbon flights. Kentucky Owl is one I tried on a flight and I came away very pleased with the taste and smoothness. I also purchased a bottle for collection.

I bought a bottle of Kentucky Owl Rye batch 3 this week. Pretty pricey but it was well below it’s msrp of $200 so I scooped it up. I haven’t cracked it yet but plan to if we win the NC.

Was weaned on Old Setter (4.40 a quart!). It had a picture of a bird dog on bottle and it’s slogan was “it points the way” -why it didn’t give me an ulcer I don’t know! Have progressed to Buffalo Trace as I aged and had more change in my pocket.

When you go to New Orleans, hit up any of the nicer restaurants - Herbsaint is one we went to on the last trip down. They’ll have a bourbon list with pours you won’t find in SC. I had William Larue Weller (Buffalo Trace Antique Collection that runs $800+ on the secondary market) for like $20 per 2 oz pour. That’s darn cheap for the best bourbon I’ve ever had. Tried a lot of bourbon I’ve never even seen in SC for pretty reasonable bar prices.
Favorite is probably Blantons, but it’s become hard to find so I’ll be running out in the next month or so. Four Roses small batch is hard to beat for the price too.

Been drinking bourbon for many years now and the list of what I like and is on my bar is extensive. I won't have any that are less than 100 proof and I no longer purchase anything over $50.00. Blanton's and Weller are very available here in NWGA but too expensive now. Weller is $100+ and I have 6 bottles in the bunker that I paid $35.99 for.
You can't go wrong with any true distillers products. Just look out for the over priced, fancy marketing names on bottled by products since they don't make it.

Blanton’s has become a favorite, but it’s hard to find. Many bars carry it and I’ll order it, if it’s not too pricey. Knob Creek is an excellent bourbon for money as well. One of my favorites, again looking at it from a price, value relationship is Costco’s Kirkland brand, 7 year old Kentucky Bourbon. At $29, it’s hard to beat. If you like Ryes, Whistlepig has a 10 y/o, 110 proof that is pretty special.

I also like ryes but WP is way out of my price bracket. Knob Creek and Old Forester both make excellent ryes south of $50

in 2021. Been twice - as much for the bourbon distillery visits as the game. The first time we lucked out at Buffalo and snagged a bottle of Blanton's but this year they didn't have any
Lower proof but a nice sipping bourbon we found the last time was Basil Heyden. Now owned by Beam. Higher rye than I usually like but the lower proof likely cuts the normal rye burn. I would not mix it up but it's great straight.

I haven’t tried it due to the high price and low age. It has a great story. Clemson was involved in the restoration of the heirloom red corn they use.

Been working through a variety of bourbons over the last 10 years. Got caught up spending to much for or some names that were rough.
At this point if its a special occasion will spring for Whistlepig, otherwise just stick with Old Forester.

For anyone near Charlotte, a great local bourbon is called Conviction, so named because it's distilled in an old jail building. But it's very high quality, small-batch stuff.

Go Tigers!
Totally agree! I am enjoying a pour of Noah’s Mill as I type this. Go Tigers!!
