Brent Venables is a great defensive coordinator but

Even when he was at Oklahoma , he had games where people put big numbers up. Then he would have several good d games and then another game of big let up.
I know he coaches our linebackers and I love those guys but they really need to be more disciplined. It's a bad weakness at times. I hope it finally get corrected. Lord knows he has plenty of tape from which to teach.

We finished last year the #1 overall defense , won several games solely on that side of the ball . We are 5th ranked today . No , I think Venables is doing a fine job . Dumb post .

Biggest problem with LBs is lack of depth

After Goodson and Boulware, we don't yet have a strong second unit. We are addressing the issue with recruiting but the loss of Korie Rogers is still affecting us

How are you coming on the pizza for the homeless idea?

Just wondering because, while you were at Olive Garden, eating for free, the homeless could have used a few pizzas.
Oh and Venables could have used you advice.

Could we be better, yes? But how many 10-0 teams are there? I agree we shouldn't be satisfied and continue to improve but come on, defense has stepped it up when we needed to win that way and offense has stepped up when we need to win that way. Go Tigers! I'm thankful for each coach we have.

So what if the D lost a few national rankings. We are 10-0 and perhaps Venables stock goes down just enough that we keep him for one more year so that we dominate again next year for Watson's Jr year.

in Stephone Anthony and another NFL guy in Tony Steward.
Instead he has a couple of starters who are doing really great, but who have certain limitations.
The fact that occasionally a team is able to exploit those limitations just enough to make Clemson work to win a game doesn't detract from the fact that the Clemson team is 10-0 at the present time.
When we actually LOSE a game to an inferior opponent because of the limitations of our starting LBs, perhaps then it will be time to criticize Brent Venables.
Until then, the criticizing is misplaced.

To your point, have there ever been top ranked defenses that haven't experienced similar trends? Complete dominance- limiting to 150-200 yards total offense per game, with NO lapses?
You're getting upart because the reality of our success doesn't match what you think our success should look like- which is absurd. Then for the rest of us who are happy for the win- you accuse us of being "sunshine pumpers."

Absolutely horrible post. He's the best D Coordinator in the country. You want to fire Dabo too when we lose. Horrible post!

Can you point out a defensive coordinator who's defense has never had bad games? I'm sure Dabo would be willing to hire such a coordinator if one actually existed.

Syracuse threw the kitchen sink at us...

...played a speedy scrappy, nothing to lose game. We overcame it and won it on the road. Not sure how Venables would have known they were going to throw in the option game. They mixed it up well and hit some holes.
They still didn't win....
WE DID!

Total yardage in the last three games were all under 400 yards. In today's world of hurry up spread offenses, anything under 400 total yards is pretty good in my book.
