Yeah, you really shouldn’t have gone there: as in the ACC got continually snubbed and devalued by ESPN and Fox, and anyone else with a vested interest in the B1G and the SEC.

Facts: The ACC played 25 games against the B1G this year, including the Challenge. The ACC went 13-12 in those 25 games (B1G was 12-13).

In the games that the Final NET ranking favored the ACC, the ACC was 7-1. The ACC only lost one game where the ranking had the ACC as favorite.

In the 17 games that the B1G was favored by the NET, the B1G went 11-6. That's right; more than a third of the time that the NET favored the B1G, the B1G lost. That's hardly a ringing endorsement for either the NET and the B1G, wouldn't you say?

Here's the "NET profile" of the ACC as if those were the only 25 games in a season, and the ACC were just one team:

Quad 1: 5-8
Quad 2: 7-4
Quad 3: 0-0
Quad 4: 1-0


Then here's the "Net profile" of the B1G for the same 25 games:

Quad 1: 2-8
Quad 2: 3-3
Quad 3: 3-2
Quad 4: 4-0


The ACC's profile would have been ranked about #35 (5 Quad 1 wins, .500 in Quad's 1 & 2 combined, very few Quad 3 & 4 games with no losses).

The B1G's profile however would have been about #90 (only 2 Quad 1 wins and badly net negative Quad 1 & 2 record, heavy reliance on Quad 4 wins).

And this isn't Clemson winning 3 games over NCSU where 3 games is only 1/11th of the total games. This is a random sample of 25 total games, with blind rankings being applied across multiple, multiple teams.

Yet the B1G got several more NCAA invites than the ACC... pray tell, why?

You are a proud member of the ACC, the league that is and always will be college basketball. Do you ever hear SEC/Big 10 fans trashing their conference. Not much. The SEC -- It just means more. The problem is the NET. A team that loses should never go up in the rankings. A team that wins should never drop in the standings. The other problem is the ACC has an empty suit for a commissioner. It is way past time to be aggressive in the college athletics landscape. It already may be too late. I cannot believe there is not an out for the ACC in the current TV contract. Somebody screwed up. Thank you Swofford.

In summary, we had a decent record against a bad schedule. We beat a couple of pretty good teams but then lost to some really bad ones. The first round of the NIT was kind of the culmination of the season. We might argue a couple of teams like NCS maybe shouldn't have gotten in either but the reality is we didn't deserve to be there.

Had we played a better OOC schedule and had the ACC been as good as in past years then it would have been different. However, that was not the case this year and it worked against us instead of in our favor.
