Conference Top Teams And Their Losses (updated)

Post I started several weeks ago…updated after October 31 weekend:

Below is a list of the records of the top 5 teams in each conference along with the losses those teams have had. Obviously, conferences are now starting to beat up on each other.

But, it is interesting the winning %, and maybe more interesting, is the losses that those teams have had. Rankings used for those losses is this week’s Sagarin Rankings.

Top 5 Teams In Each Conference:

Big 10’s Top 5 Teams are 41-4 (.911) with losses to #1 Alabama, #6 Ohio, #15 Iowa and #40 Temple. Average Ranking Of Losses: 15.5

Big 12’s Top 5 Teams are 35-5 (.875) with losses to #3 Baylor, #4 TCU, #5 Oklahoma, #14 Oklahoma State, and #58 Texas. Average Ranking Of Losses: 16.8

SEC’s Top 5 Teams are 34-6 (.850) with losses to #1 Alabama, #9 Florida, #11 LSU, #12 Ole Miss (2), and #27 Memphis. Average Ranking Of Losses: 12.0

ACC‘s Top 5 Teams are 34-6 (.850) with losses to #15 Iowa, #23 North Carolina, #38 Georgia Tech, #41 Northwestern, #50 Miami, and #64 South Carolina. Average Ranking Of Losses: 38.5

Pac 12’s Top 5 Teams are 30-10 (.750) with losses to #7 Southern Cal, #8 Notre Dame, #10 Stanford (2), #16 Utah, #20 Michigan State, #22 Washington, #41 Northwestern, #46 Arizona State, and #55 Washington State. Average Ranking Of Losses: 23.5

My Most Impressive: Big 10. Great winning % and their losses have all be "quality".
My Least Impressive: ACC. Winning % took a hit with Duke's loss and the average losses are not great...and Scar continues to kill the Tar Heels and that loss to them in week 1.

I expect LSU and Bama to emerge unbeaten this week after they play. At least that is what ESPN will try to say
