Dabo and staff are not missing on the recruits we are gettin

Aug 8, 2013, 9:23 PM

From what Ive seen Gallman,Dye and just about all skill players are freaking studs. Also Rod Mcdowell will be better than Ellington was last year..

I hope u are right about Hot Rod,

But I don't know.... AE was a beast! It will be hard to top his production.

I have also thought that Hot Rod was going to be better than Ellington. I usually never compare one player to another b/c of all the different opinions. But from the games on You Tube I have watched over the summer. I started to believe that if H R was to take more hand offs than Ellington, that he would have been a better back. And that is why I said in a post yesterday that H R and Howard would be enough to keep UGS'S D honest. IMO, Hot Rod has some good quick moves and runs with a lot of power. I smiled when I read what pawppaw81 had said.

If our OL is as much improved as I believe it will be, I think we will have a great day on the 31st.

Me too, but AE was prone to injury, so he felt the need to juke and jive the field rather than running over or through the midst of it. He was a great back in what he did, but he wasn't the big bruiser who could run you over.

So do I 81!!! I like HR as a quick power back that he is. IMO, backs that run with power has a better ability to run through arm tackles without being knocked of balance. Nothing better than RB running with balance to keep their head of steam moving forward. If Dye can get a part of the play book in his head early, with a Hot Rod and Dye back field, with a veteran O line. We should have one of the best running games than we have had in a while. And if we get past uthuga, we have the best chance of going undefeated than we have had in a very long time. With an undefeated season, we know where our next stop will be, Pasadena maybe. I guess that would depend on a undefeated sec and big 10 conference team. A undefeated Bama and a undefeated Ohio St. would be picked over a undefeated Clemson. I just think that the luster of Urban Meyer and a soft Ohio St. schedule would get the nod. The Bias Meyer media wins.

Rod Mcdowell is an stud. He has good size, speed, and well, an eye and knowledge of the game. He will be a playmaker in a big way this year.

"Also Rod Mcdowell will be better than Ellington was last year.. "

While this would be great, how are you coming to that conclusion?

Just go back and watch the games with Hot Rod and his running style and see and judge for your self. This isn't a lets argue about who is the better RB. It's conversation of individual opinions. There are plenty of post to argue your opinions in. As far as I'm concerned, this wasn't a bait and argue you point.;)

HR will run behind a much more developed and mature line.

Aug 9, 2013, 10:57 AM

That alone gives him the edge. His propensity to blast off makes him look explosive but also lead to the health problems he had last year.

He though nothing of taking on the big uglies again and again. While that sounds heroic and virtuous we need him healthy. He can't help much on the bench.

AE, on the other hand, had to find his way around the smoke at the line of scrimmage all year. When he got a path he blasted off just as quickly as HR. He was a more cautious runner than HR and stayed healthy and productive for that reason.

Ellington is 4th in school history in career yards

Aug 9, 2013, 11:32 AM

That's a bold prediction, but in the interest of improving every year, I certainly hope Hot Rod shows out! I didn't at first, but I'm starting to feel better about our RB by committee approach this year. I definitely think we'll rotate Hot Rod, Howard, Brooks (who looks GREAT so far in pads practice), and one of the freshmen (hopefully not both; I want one to redshirt). Keeping them fresh could help us get our ypc up, which is what I'm going to be watching the most, along with TDs by our RBs. I wasn't happy with the low number they scored last year; we need them to be able to take it in at the goal line and not risk hurting Tajh. We can't forget about Tajh's contribution to rushing, too.

Seeing Tajh carrying the ball in goal line situation is enough to cause fans to have a stroke.
