Does the ACC Actually Realize Clemson's Value

Nov 10, 2021, 12:01 PM

or is it lip service? I just received a second email from the ACC trying to sell tickets for the ACCCG for $30 each. That made me even more curious, so I went online to look at hotel reservations downtown Charlotte within walking distance if the stadium, and there are plenty for 12/4. I'm sure the Charlotte business community wish the Tigers get back there again and are hoping for a 2021 miracle.

Since 2015 and Clemson's run at the ACCCG, ticket prices have gone up each year and no hotel rooms downtown Charlotte were to be found. Clemson doesn't need the ACC, the ACC needs Clemson and need to treat the Tigers with the respect they have earned. The Tigers would be welcomed into any Conference and depending which one, could up to double their annual payouts.

To be fair, none of the fans of other schools know if they will make the ACC championship game.

We knew/assumed we would early.

and this year when it's in doubt Clemson fans aren't making reservations either.

I thought about that too castaway. Why is it stopping the other teams from buying tickets and reserving rooms? Not being guaranteed, didn't stop the Tiger fans from snatching up the tickets and booking the hotels full.

With 4 to 6 teams in contention, why would there be any tickets or rooms available, especially for out of NC teams?

To the ACC, Clemson is a cash cow...

and nothing more. Otherwise, they don't give a rats rump about Clemson.

Do you think Swofford would have bent-over backwards to protect Clemson the way he did with UNCheat when they were navigating their cheating scandal with the NCAA? He sure as he!! didn't do that for Miami or Louisville.

That's why it's a bad idea to hire a commissioner

who is an alumnus of one of the schools. You're assumed guilty of bias even if you're not.

People on here said he was responsible for our extra year of probation for years when it was all BS.

So is it worse to have paid players? Or give fake grades?

Nov 10, 2021, 8:14 PM

Looking back with NIL goggles, paying players in the 80's is no different that the NIL today. Swofford and Tobacco Road were virtue signaling back then and tacked on the extra year. Kind of silly with today's NIL.

However, UNC's fake grades for fake classes cuts to the very heart of being a student athlete. They said it wasn't just football, it was all sports. All sports there should have been punished. Swoffie helped them get away with a hand slap.

Am I correct that both were under his watch?

UNCheat was doing both***

I posted recently about Clemson gets no respect in the ACC. Clemson has carried the water in football for the ACC for over a decade. Clemson has been the only team to even get the ACC mention nationally in football for over 10 years. If you listen to the ACC network with announcers mostly from other teams in the conference they are literate pulling against us. If this was Alabama and the SEC they would be apologizing the next day or be fired as was done recently. It has always been this way. This is still a Tobacco Road conference. I hope the new commissioner moves HQ to Charlotte or better still out of NC. If you don’t know this you have not been around long as a fan for the tigers.

Over 10 years? FSU won the National Title in 2013 was in the playoff in 2014 while Clemson wasn't in it either year. They did get some national attention though as they whipped both Ohio State and Oklahoma in high profile bowl games those years but they weren't the "only" team getting it for the ACC lol

To be fair - most of our fans couldn't care less about the ACC. There are half a dozen threads about hoping Wake drops several more games so we can make the ACC championship game.

I've yet to see one hoping they go undefeated and end up in the CFP. What does that tell you?

That if we're not in it, we'd prefer another ACC team be in it either. ??

I mean if it can't be Clemson, I'd love to see another ACC team get in rather than 2 SEC teams. But that comes second to Clemson winning an ACC championship. As long as Clemson is mathematically still in the ACC race, I'm rooting for my Tigers to win it.

I see a lot of comments here about Clemson being

Nov 10, 2021, 4:55 PM

disrespected by the ACC.

I'm genuinely curious, what is that opinion based upon? Mentioning the extra year of probation nearly 40 years ago isn't a valid reason in 2021. I'm looking for recent examples of this disrespect from the ACC.

And to continue that line of thinking, what would being respected by the ACC look like? What would show you that the ACC respects and appreciates Clemson football?

Judge, do think Tiger BB gets any respect in the ACC? You must be younger than I thought. If you have not seen BB officials take games away from Tiger BB thru the years if it looked we were going to upstate a Tobacco Road BB team then I can recommend Carolina Vision care. They do a great job there.??

officials in basketball at times, but that isn't evidence of a conference bias against us from ACC leadership.

Unless of course you think the commissioner has had a private meeting with officials and told them to treat us unfairly because the ACC doesn't like us.

By the way, I believe Coach Brownell that I like very much, is a great defensive coach but falls short in having a good offensive scheme and is not a very good recruiter. Dickey V that I talked with at the Cotton Bowl a couple years back said that to me. Did you see the Navy offensive scheme that defeated a great Virginia team. That scheme worked to perfection. Mike Young that went from Wofford to Virginia Tec has a good scheme. He has been at VA TEC just a few years and already has a more respectful team than we do. After 11 years a losing ACC record is nothing to write home about. Don’t misunderstand me. I watch and pull hard for us and pull hard for Coach Brownell. He is a great human being.
