ESPN: unbiased sports reporter or gay rights activist?

Is anyone else bothered/annoyed that ESPN showed the Jason Collins story on their news ticker relentlessly when he came out a few weeks ago, and made the story their headline?

Now Roy Hibbert is fined $75,000 by the NBA for using the phrase "no ####" in response to a question in an interview.

It seems like more and more ESPN is pushing their agendas rather than simply reporting the news. I know I know the NBA fined HIbbert but ESPN has the story on their main page and I'm sure they are in favor of this.

ESPN's job should be to report the news, not take interests whether they be economical (the $EC) or political (gay rights).

No ####.

What else happened today that you would lead with?

I guess he expects ESPN not to report on a player that will

Well the first openly gay athlete in the country would be pretty big news so I believe them continually reporting it was the right thing to do since it was such big news.

Like you said, the NBA fined Hibbert, not ESPN, but that is news so ESPN reported it.

I didn't hear any pro/anti remarks about either situation so far but I think ESPN is just doing what you want and reporting th news.

However, your remarks about the SEC, spot on.

As much as I can't stand the way ESPN has gotten…..

they are not pushing any "agenda". ESPN on both stories, just reported what happened. Sorry dude, layoff the homophobia and enjoy life. If you're not gay, then why worry so much about a story about a fine, and a story about a gay player who rode the bench his whole career coming out at the end of his career.

The movie, American Beauty, instantly comes to mind after reading what the OP stated.

I thought it was ridiculous that they called "No ####" a gay slur...and find it even more ridiculous that they actually fined him money for saying that.

That said, it's not a part of any agenda and it's more of an example of the horrible level of sensationalism found in American media. It's such a non-issue.

how could "no ####" not be considered a gay slur? I'm not saying his intent was to be malicious or anti-gay, but to say that to a group of reporters in 2013...c'mon.

I'm glad someone else is seeing the left's gay agenda being pushed by ESPN. It shouldn't be a surprise since they are ABC. Makes me sick. Funny how they are trying to get this past the basketball/hip hop crowd, and with some of the tweets are succeeding.
