Expectation vs Appreciation

Let me understand this correctly. We are expected to pay extremely high ticket prices and make large donations year after year for the right to buy those tickets. We are expected to be there early and stay until the end of the game. We are expected to sit quietly while the team underperforms for a third straight year. We are expected to sit quietly while this team loses 4 games that we were favored to win.
I for one do not appreciate it. I don’t appreciate being talked down to like I haven’t been a fan of this institution, even during the Tommy Bowden years when I was a student. Perhaps Dabo needs to appreciate the people who pay him $11 million a year and not expect blind loyalty when he isn’t even close to living up to his “best is standard” that he expects from the fan base.

Don’t bring up Jonestown .. the 1.5%’s think Dabo and the Daboees are a cult (Judge). If he broke out the spiked orange Kool-Aide, many would break their necks lining up to be the first to drink from the cup and follow Dabo to the great beyond.

I think that's absolutely right. There are some nuts here who like Dabo more than Clemson. Literally, if you look at the post "My Clemson Degree Came Hard" that's up right now, some old guy just said if Dabo left Clemson and his new team played Clemson, he'd be torn about who to root for. That's deranged. Dabo has a cult that believes he can do no wrong and should have life tenure.

Didn't we win the ACC last year and were 9 and 0 in the conference.

We got hammered by Notre Dame (i was at the game). We lost at home to the coots when we should have beaten them by 3 touchdowns (i was at that one too). And then we got embarrassed in the bowl game.
Winning the ACC but getting embarrassed in 3 games is not “best is standard” material in my opinion.

Dabo got this from Tony Robbins. You should try and live by it. You'll be much more happy.

Even during the “Tommy Bowden Days”. The Tommy Bowden years are probably the fourth best era of Modern Clemson football. Ford and Dabo eras speak for themselves. Charlie Pell was really good but not here long. Bowden won 65% of his games here. The field is named for a guy with a 55% career winning percentage.
Most schools that invest heavily in football never have a ten year run like Clemson had. Yet that becomes the standard. The run was bound to end. Very few schools have runs that long and even fewer have multiple.

I don’t get the point of posts like this. Are we just supposed to throw up our hands and accept mediocrity because we had a good stretch? Why is it unrealistic that given the facilities, talent, and money thrown at this football program to expect we would remain at least competitive in by far the weakest of the P5 conferences? The majority of the problems are fixable by getting rid of bad hires and putting actual experienced professionals in place

Does one bad year really change the trajectory of this program? Is it really that unreasonable to think we could have a down year? What programs are we comparing ourselves to and why? Is dabo still not a hall of fame caliber coach? Did we win national titles with inexperienced coordinators that dabo had connections with?
