Favorite "based on real life" sports movies?

My son and I just watched "Miracle" last night, about the 1980 US Olympic hockey team. I still get chills listening to Al Michaels' call - "Do you believe in miracles??"
Definitely one of the top "real life" sports movies. Really well done in every facet. A great watch. Nothing of significance was added.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's about an upstart University of Washington JV rowing team that would go on to win the gold medal in the 1936 Olympics.
I also think "Eight Men Out" is a really good movie.

but it was fairly straightforward and formulaic. Felt like it could have done more with the pieces it was given.

Was a really good movie, but the book was really outstanding. One of the best reads for me in the last 10 years.

Surprised the all time great football movie "RUDY" has not been mentioned. It and "HOOSIERS" are the standards for sports movies.
Love Gene Hackman and the time period 0f Hoosiers. May have been Hackman's best acting job. It is a classic and I never tire of seeing it.

Miracle, is awesome. Probably gets my vote for best movie about a real life sporting event. That said another old school sports themed movie, while not a true story, is a good representation of competitive wrestling is Vision Quest. Every time I see it on, I end up watching it. Great 80’s movie, Great Sound Track. It’s on Roku for free right now.

"42" was about as well done as any sports movie I've seen. Handled some difficult issues well. Also much of it was filmed in Chattanooga, which gives it extra points for me.
