Many people thought that would happen last year, too. Granted, AL should win the game going away, but they may overlook us just like LSU did. I wouldn't bet on it, but we will just have to prepare the best we can with what we've got and hope for the best.

You can say that again. There is no way that Clemson could defend Johnny Football. It would be a record setting day for him and another frustrating day for Tiger fans having to watch it for four quarters.

Yall would beat Ta&m. They are terrible on def and Manziel is mailing it in since he is going pro. He may not even be eligible for their bowl game.

No. We would not beat A&M. However, we would at least stand a chance to win. But against Alabama we would get shutout. And by shutout, I mean literally shutout. I'll put it a little more simply, we would score zero points against Alabama. The final score would be 42-0. That's the kind of loss that would demoralize the team and set the program back 5 years. I want no part of Bama. Give me Central Florida or Northern Illinois. Even if Tajh had adequate time to throw the ball against Bama, he'd still be sacked because he likes to run into defenders. A game against Bama would get ugly in a hurry. In fact, that game would make me sick to my stomach to watch.

In the same way that you probably wanted no part of LSU last year? Tigers need to face an opponent like Bama to either nut up or shut up. We spend too much of the year playing terrible teams.

We're not Georgia State. I know you are in a pissy mood because of the loss, but let's not get all "The sky is falling!" here.
I don't think we'd beat Bama, but they gave up points to drastically inferior teams, even if they didn't give up many.

I thought we had no chance against their defense last yr..
realize this, we play like utter garbage against ya'll...for whatever reason. Its like watching a totally different team when we play ya'll. Tahj plays timid and only throws to Sammy, defense plays slow, coaches can't find a hole to plug...don't know why its just a role reversal from when ya'll used to say ya'll didn't understand why ya'll played bad against us.
That being said, bama is pretty much the best team in the country other than FSU and it would be a huge test. But they are beatable moreso this yr than previous years. I thought ya'll would have a good chance against them if you made it to the sec champ. I'd like a shot at them. Plus they'd be pissed to be there and probably wouldn't play as good.

Honestly, with a month to prepare, do you think your coaching staff and team has what it takes to beat Alabama? Saban, following their loss, will spend every waking moment looking to take it out on you guys.

McCarron/Bama, although a very good quarterback/team, doesn't scare me near as much as a team with a running quarterback. Especially one that can throw fairly well too (i.e. Shaw, Manziel, Marshall) Even Miller for OSU doesn't bother me that much because his arm is average at best. He reminds me of a Logan Thomas that can run better. I'm not saying that we automatically beat the non-running quarterback teams either. Just that our chances are MUCH better against them, IMO.

One minute our schedule too easy...the next minute you don't want to play a high ranking team. So how do you pick and choose? (You is collective in this case) 'just happened to pick your email. Congratulations!

I didn't say schedule is too easy or don't want to play Bama
Dec 2, 2013, 12:57 PM

Either your reading comprehension is terrible or you find it easier to concoct stuff that I didn't write and argue against that.
Our ACC schedule is what it is and we can't change that. I just pointed out that we DO play an easy schedule which creates a false sense of worth for achieving "10-win" seasons. That false sense of worth usually comes crashing down when we play good teams. (Dabo is 1-6 vs. non-con teams that finished in the Top 25.) Therefore, if we play Bama, they will spank us. But I'd rather play Bama than another cupcake because playing Bama would be a good measuring stick.

I still hate a QB with legs. Those teams tend to give us more trouble than most. Exhibit A: Conner Shaw.
Coots don't win that game last night without his running.

Ya theres not many like Shaw though...hes the most effective runner at QB that ive seen in some time as far as controlling the game and keeping the chains moving...guy is like a field genral out there...that said, Clemson did a much better job against him this year, and definitely slowed him down to the point where if not for the turnovers, Clemson couldve taken over the game on numerous occasions...This Clemson defense is much better, and would definitely slow Manziel down as the game went on.

either bowl would be an awesome challenge...Bama has been # 1 for as long as i can remember until Auburn pulled off the crazy field goal return...two time defending natty champs...and alot of people prob still see them as the best team out there. A win against Bama is incredibly hard to come by, and would be an awesome feat! Also the tigers were fairly overmatched in a loss to them a handfull of years ago, so itd be nice to get one back...also it would be interesting to see how well Clemson matches up against what is considered the top program in the country at a neutral site and with both teams having plenty of time to rest up and prepare for the game. Bama is pretty much the ultimate challenge out there.
The Texas A&M matchup would be awesome as well...the Chick Fil A bowl is a great destination, and with Manziel at the helm, the Aggies are as dangerousa as any team out there.
Either bowl would be awesome, and a great opportunity to end the year on a positive note.

Clemson runs an offense a lot like Auburn. We saw what happened to the great Bama D when facing a hurry up. The big question would be could Boyd not get flustered and start making bad decisions under pressure.
I dont want T AM. Johnny Autograph is too fast and we do not do good against the running QB.

Win lose or draw, I'd rather have the Tigers face off with the best competition. Football is all about competing, you'll fight harder to become a starter when there is somebody great behind you and I think that works the same way when you are playing better teams. In the long run you get a lot better playing an Alabama as opposed to a Citadel or Furman. So I would love to go up against Alabama or Johnny Football!

again. Bammer would whip our butts out there. It would hurt us recruiting and hurt us nationally in the eyes of media and voters. Beating a A&M team in the Peach Bowl would be better.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. When Alabama lost to Florida in the SEC Championship in 2008 they proceeded to lose to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.
Hard to imagine they are extremely motivated at this point.

Sorry, chief. You may not want to claim me, but I am a lifetime Clemson fan and Clemson grad. I come from a long-line of Clemson graduates. Not to mention, my grandfather was even the chairman of the board of trustees and has a building named after him. I am extremely passionate about Clemson football, perhaps to my detriment because of how the losses affect me these days. With that said, I can be a bit pessimistic about my squad at times because I've seen us blow it a lot over the years. In any event, I love the Tigers - always have and always will. I am growing more optimistic with Dabo at the helm and feel that the trajectory of the program is most definitely pointed in the upward direction. Be that as it may, I don't want to see us suffer an embarrassing loss with the national spotlight shining on us that could negate much of the recent progress that we have made. That is my primary rationale for not wanting to play Bama. I may be wrong and we could play lights out and potentially beat Bama, but personally I would rather us play an easier opponent.

Done! But with OSU going down too, that changes the landscape of the bowls now. Be interesting to see what Orange Bowl folks do. Looks like we may be playing OSU there. Or they could snub us and we go back to Chik-Fil-A. Personally, I'd be ok with that since I could make it to Atlanta and loved all the pregame things CFA had going on. They do an excellent job!
