If FSU beats Louisville they still shouldn’t be in the playoffs. They simply aren’t that good. Clemson beat themselves when they played them. I hope Louisville beats the tar out of them so we don’t even have to have this discussion. To be honest as much as I hate OSU they deserve it more even with one loss.

Both teams are overrated, but you end up with the situation of if not them, who else? I suggest the answer to that question is the loser of Oregon Washington. Bo Nix and Penix are fabulous quarterbacks.

Most PAC-12 teams have not heard of defense. That makes several QBs look better than they really are.

An undefeated power 5 champion will never be left out. Only would have happened if all 5 went undefeated, but that never happened and won’t. FSU deserves to be in the playoff assuming they beat Louisville.
I’m hoping for bama to beat UGA, that’ll put real pressure on the committee

I wd like for the ACC to be well-represented in the CFP. BUT, I don't think FSU can be that team; maybe U of L. (They had 3 TOs against Kentucky.)
Go back and look at the FSU game at Clemson. Our Tigers dominated the FSU game. Except for the "(not) prevent defense" just b4 the half, FSU's offense would have scored 10 points that game, WITH Travis. (Of course, if the ACC ref had called the obviously blatant holding of 3 Xavier Thomas, even the "(not) prevent defense" would have worked.) A short FG by Weitz wd hv won that game.
I think U of L will beat FSU, without Travis.
On the other hand, Mich only played 2 teams with a pulse; and OSU only played 3, if you add Notre Dame. And they Mich and OSU looked lousy against VERY poor competition and were VERY lucky to win those games.
I'm not sold on the PAC-12 teams either.
Maybe the committee should pick a PAC-12 team and Texas.
I look for the PAC-12 team to be mauled.

If FSU deserved it before their QB got hurt then they deserve it if they beat Louisville. But, I will also say that if the committee focused on the original intent of playoff selection, which was to try and assure the 4 best teams were in the playoffs, it would all take care of itself.
Alabama-Georgia Winner
Oregon-Washington Winner
Michigan-Iowa Winner
Texas-OK St. Winner
Other than Iowa and OK State, I think it would be hard to argue that FSU is better than the rest of those teams, especially without their starting QB.
If, Iowa or OK St. were to win, then I think you have to consider those who might be better, whether that is FSU or one of the other top losers.

We don’t know. Folks like Deptula are saying no based on struggling with Florida. But in the same breathe Walt is touting Bama. Bama just needed a prayer to beat a team that got run out of the stadium by New Mexico State. I don’t think Bama should be in, even if they beat UGA, over a no loss conference champion. Bama is not that good.

FSU will have done enough.
It's hard to go undefeated. Those who do in P5 conferences deserve to go.
One loss teams need to quit whining and win the games. Same with two loss teams most years.
I do think that teams 5-8 are particularly strong this year....but the system says 4.
Heading towards UGA, Michigan, FSU and winner of Oregon/Washington...in my opinion. All better than Ohio State this season.

they always get the benefit of committee bias. It would not shock me if the CFP would put a non-champion, one loss UGA in over and undefeated FSU. If they do, I hope there is a huge uproar from the public and media.
In my opinion, for any non-champion to be considered, they should have no more losses than the conference champ they would replace!

Bama has 2 losses. That 4th and 31 prayer answered Saturday was supernatural. That should be viewed as a “loss” to a team that got ran out of the stadium by New Mexico State. FSU is more deserving than that 2 loss SEC Champ Bama team who will beat UGA.
Imagine if the roles were reversed and an ACC team did what Bama did. They’d be ranked about 20th.

The case could be made stating nobody is good enough to make the playoffs this year.

It sucks though because they have absolutely NO chance of beating anyone that they may face in that semifinal (likely Michigan or Georgia) without Jordan Travis. It would be a much, much more competitive game if FSU got skipped over in favor of somebody else, but I really don't see that happening if they finish 13-0.
With Travis out i think a team like Ohio State would be a pretty sizable favorite over FSU right now. Like in the 7-10 points range.

FSU will have earned it. tOSU has beaten an overrated ND team (while barely scoring 14 points) and a Penn State team that can't score on good defenses.
Why are people discrediting FSU based on this past weekend?
FSU beat rival UF (5-6) at night in the Swamp by 9 points.
UGA beat Georgia Tech (6-5) in Atlanta at night by 8 points.
Bama needed a miracle to win at Auburn (6-5) by 3 points. An Auburn team that had just lost by 3 TD's at home to New Mexico State.
Washington beat rival Wazzu at home by 7 points.
FSU may have had the most impressive win out of all those teams this week.

Their most important player is out for the season. Everyone is now trying to judge a new FSU team that has played 1 game and didn't look particularly good in it - though they did appear to get some stuff figured out as the game progressed.
How they perform against a pretty good but not elite Louisville team Saturday will tell us a good bit more about what this team is capable of without Travis.
I think as long as they beat Louisville they will get into the playoff simply for being undefeated, but if they struggle offensively again I think it's likely we will have an FSU team in the CFP that's maybe not even top 10 in terms of power ratings, and will probably get hammered by Michigan or UGA.

If they win the ACC title game they should be in with wins over Clemson,
LSU and Florida at the swamp. They can and should win even with the backup
QB. Don't count them out. A one loss Georgia should not get in with their weak
schedule.

If FSU beats Louisville they will win the ACC. They will also be undefeated. They should be in. We had our chance and they did what they had to do to out coach us and outplay us. Either you win or lose and unfortunately and a nights sleep lost they beat us.
