Hello all, does anyone currently own this grill?

This is a Coleman 885 portable grill. I am thinking of purchasing this for the wife and I as a new tailgate grill and I was wondering if any t-netters have used it?

Good little grill. Suggest you take a contractor garbage bag with you and put the grill in it afterwards until you get home to clean it. They retain a lot of grease.

it is a bit pricey and bulky for a 1 lb propane grill so i didnt recommend this one when they asked me.

they bought them anyway. None of them have had any issues so far

Any suggestions on a nice portable tailgater grill?

I went with the Blackstone tailgater for this year. Tried it out during the spring game and I thin it will do everything I want it to do.

for the last 20 years. i'd have to look at it when i get home.. but i think it is a char broil.

the ones $50-100 in this price range are all table top.. so you lose the covience of the stand that comes with that Coleman you are looking at.

I have to grill bent over 6 inches from the ground or put the grease dripping grill on a table.
luckly i found 2x4 folding table with a optional wire pull out that i bought specifically for the grill.

go to your local home depot/ lowes, d1cks/academy, and bass proshop/ cabellas and kick em around. kick the tires and light the fires as they say. see which 1 seems the "sturdiest" to you.

i would recommend getting a 1 lb to 20 pound adapter if you can tote around a 20 lb tank. Those 1 lb tanks get expensive and you always have to carry 2 or 3 just incase. You probably already have half dozen 20 lb propane tanks lying around your house.

I've had a Weber Tailgater for years. It does a great job and still works fine.

Its what my buddy uses and we have cooked wings, burgers, brats and it has always seemed to do a good job. I had been using the cheap portable grill but it just bad about being too hot and flaming constantly. The Coleman does lot nicer job.

All the local stores had in stock were red ones. I ordered an orange one online. No way I was tailgating with a red grill. That would be kinda like buying a red truck…

Not that particular one.

But, I do have a portable Coleman and may buy another. I have had mine for about 3 years. Still works well.

I still use the predecessor to this model, orange as well!

These grills need a wind break though. If you get a gust of wind that goes near the grill then it is common for it to flame out and you may not even know it if you are doing other things. This remains true even when the lid is lowered down. Otherwise, solid grill as long as you are not trying to fully cook a rack of ribs or something like that. Hope this helps!

Have used one to tailgate for past few years. It does the trick. I would recommend bringing a couple cannisters of propane. They don't last long.

I love traeger products, but I think it would be to big to travel with.

I have an older version of a very similar one. I think it is a Coleman Road-trip. Only has 2 burners. Works fine for a few burgers or brats. Can’t handle a lot of food. They sell a round stove grate that you can use for cooking in pots and pans. I make chili the day before the game and heat it on this grill a lot.
