Help - Portable satellite dish for DirecTV

Sep 11, 2017, 12:57 PM

Ready to buy this. Seem to range from $250-450. Would like to get information on how well they work and if it is needed to get the more expensive. Do some specify HD or 4K, etc? TIA.

If there's any chance you wanna use Dish Network instead (they have a month-to-month deal for people who do strictly tailgating), then I have an original tailgater and receiver that will do standard HD, not 4k.

Willing to let it go for a reasonable price.

If you're sticking with DIRECTV, I don't have a ton of feedback on how they work. But I can tell you they're worth it regardless of the brand if you're serious about tailgating.

I've had good luck with the Tailgater and Dish.

DirecTV hd self finding dishes run in the thousands

You are looking at the SD dis he's in that price range.

If you want hd. ..go up and down the rd in the neighborhoods and wait until some 1 throws away their swm dish .

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

A Google search showed many and in the price range I noted.

I know they used to run close to $2000 but not now.

As you'll begin to see, their solution isn't is good as Dish for this particular application.

The Dish Tailgater is the go to for this.

I have a Dish Tailgater....

It came with an HD receiver and works great. Although local channels are not HD.

Compact, simple and fast to set-up.

Highly recommended.

Used DTV dish and standard receiver for years without a problem. Wanted HD so bought a swm capable dish and receiver. It worked ok in some settings but never did get it to work AT Clemson.
Just bought a Dish and wally (package). Now have HD and automatic tuning plus the capability to use either eat or west satellites as desired. Month to month subscription. Well worth the money to change. Continue with DTV at home though.
When looking at options did see ONE DTV package that offered HD, can't exactly remember the price but I think it was between $1300 and $1500. I don't think it had the auto tuning though.
