Holy shid - Louisville is bringing in 24 portal transfers for 2024

That's more dudes than most total recruiting classes and 63% of their entire 2024 class. I hope we whip the living dogshid out of the Brohm brother's imported team next year in the Valley.
USuC also gets an honorable portal mention as they have 16 incoming portal dudes making up 50% of their 2024 class. Wonder if Clemson's inevitable beat down of USuC in the Valley next year will be Beamer's final game as the head coot...

if the 247 website is correct.
Some of the 2023 ones might have already transferred out as well though, or possibly graduated/left school.

portal. UVA has 11 incoming portal dudes with 15 exiting. I just can't help but thinking that high volumes of portal activity in/out speaks to a less than stellar culture.
It amazes me we still have 0 incoming portal transfers (10 exits) this year and only one or two incoming portal transfers from years past. It's not because we haven't gone after some portal guys but for some reason we seem to be unable to sell Clemson to the few portal guys we do go after.
A lot mange folks seem to think the reason we can't get any portal guys is because of NIL - but I'm not so sure. For a few superstars in the portal - NIL money is definitely a factor - but me thinks the majority of folks in the portal and the ones we have been going after don't seem to fit that profile. Louisville and Nancy State definitely ain't got the $$'s to buy so many portal guys but they are filling a lot of holes with portal transfers. So what gives for Clemson??

area who was on the NC Shrine bowl team and could not even get a look from Div 2 schools. He is going to be a preferred walk on LB for Clemson.
Two things affecting high school kids who are not 4 or 5 stars - portal players and Covid extra years - there are a lot fewer kids getting offers who would have in the past. Obviously the top players get offers, but kids who need development can be replaced with portal kids who have experience.

Billy Wilkes from Providence is who I assume you're referring to.

Wilkes had an offer from DI Arkansas State and a couple of FCS offers, but his dad is a Clemson grad and Wilkes grew up a Clemson fan. I'm not sure the story being told is 100% accurate. Maybe a little undersized right now and he's a project-type kid for sure, but he's a little better prospect than what's being relayed wherever you read that.

emphasize kids are not getting offers who did a few years ago - whether this is the portal or the xtra Covid years, it is tougher for kids now to get offers.

Bama, LSU, Clemson, OKU, Missouri, Ole miss, A&M. They have 4 wins on the schedule and those are just the cupcakes plus Vandy.

They're probably still paying out Mushcamp $13 Million payout.
But the real question is who else would they get?

The transfer portal is a "shortcut" exercise to build a quick-fix Nat'l championship team. It is very hard to buy titles. Florida State may have pulled it off for one year, but that won't always be the case. Sure, it will bring in more talent on the roster, but there is something to be said about chemistry and loyalty. Louisville got lucky this past season. Next year, Brohm won't be so lucky. The portal is what it is, though, and it has changed the college game.
