How do you expect the gamecocks to play us defensively?

Stack the box, blitz a lot and pressure our offensive line, quarterback and running backs from the get go and try to create some turnovers. They blitzed a lot yesterday it seemed and left the middle of the field open often.
Love how we finally started getting the ball to Mike Williams yesterday on some screens and short passes so he could make plays without asking too much of Cole. Please continue.

bc they held S. Alabama to six points.
I'm dead serious, he said that. May and Davis just laughed and said, "You realize that was South Alabama and not THE Bama right coach?"

Speaking of screens, if we keep using them and Cole is

Under center, he needs to be informed that just because that is the play call it doesn't mean the guy is open. He did this against GT and it cost us six and got a few of our guys pasted for no gain yesterday . it seems like he isn't looking before he throws the screen and we should expect the coots to try to jump a few of these routes.

Poorly. Just like every other game this season. They just don't have the talent this year to be effective on that side of the ball.

Load up the box, try and man cover our receivers. Force Stoudt to beat them

I think that's exactly what they will do, and their degree

of success there will determine the outcome. If they are successful in shutting down the run with Stoudt at QB, game over. If Watson is at QB, we can overcome it and make a game of it, but his durability becomes a factor. If we they do stack the box and we are still able to run the ball, then we will be in it for sure.

and pray DW can't play. Occasionally I think they will take their chances and blitz 8 and drop 4.

be physical with your WRs and push them off their routes forcing your QB to go through progressions.

I expect them to play us poorly . They are who they are ...and Otis and Admiral Ackbar both know it.

Stop the screen and the run
Nov 23, 2014, 4:17 PM

We have no vertical threat without DW.
Even with the good game yesterday on the ground, I still do not have confidence in the rushing game, so pretty much stop the screen.
I hope that if we do not have DW, then we get creative and mix things up. Go against our tendencies. Maybe fake a screen, pump and hit a WR down the field after their corner and safety bite on the screen. Hit the TE more. Just add some more things to think about.
Even if you cannot go down field, there are a lot of other things you can do, especially against a suspect D. That is if you are creative enough to do so.
Chad Morris gets judged by what he can do in times where he is without all the pieces. Good coordinators can improvise and come up with something. It may not be the ideal, but it should produce something. Chad has not shown that he can produce anything without elite talent. The defense saved us in several games where we fell short on offense. I hope he can earn that 1.3 mil this week.

as I've seen far too often this year.
IF Watson plays and Dye is running it well we may see SOS do what he did against Auburn. I think that would be fun.
IMHO my coots are playing with house money and all of the pressure is on the Tigers in this one.

If I were spurrier, I'd press with the corners and blitz every play ... that would eliminate the screen pass and the chance of stoudt doing anything. We would have to rely on the run and unless usucks dline and linebackers are as terrible as ga state .... they shut us down.
