I am the First person in my entire family to attend and graduate from Clemson.

Unlike many others, I don't have that whole, "my parents went to Clemson too" thing to fall back on. I think it's a lot easier on kids whose parents and family's went to Clemson, than for people like me who are the first to go to a particular university.
One thing I have noticed after college is that there are a lot of people who just don't truly understand the whole "Clemson experience." It's like you have to try and explain it to people, but only people who went there and attended there for years and years, truly understand what its like to be a Clemson Tiger. There are a lot of people that "latch on" to Clemson that have never went to class there one day of their life. I have respect for a lot of those people, but if you didn't actually "go" to Clemson, why do you pull for Clemson over the college you actually attended? Shouldn't you support where you put in your work, got your degree from, and spent your college years?

How dumb. Do you really think Clemson would be what it is today with support only from Alumni?

and we have very old and strong Clemson ties and have known a lot of great Clemson people back to almost 100 years ago, but some of the greatest Clemson fans and people we know never even attended a single Clemson class.
Clemson is about individuals too, not just "families" and Clemson people should be judged as such.
Clemson roots are certainly an advantage, but they're definitely not, and shouldn't be, a requirement.

Yea, I'm sure the person who didn't like my post went to Lander and just "wishes" they got into Clemson.
They prob have all Clemson gear and have never went to one of their own colleges' sporting events one time since they have graduated.

So some people, like me, didn't go to Clemson because Clemson didn't have their major. Maybe try to not be so divisive.

Thank you. I got accepted to both Clemson and CofC. Grew up a Tiger fan but decided to go to school where I could make good money serving my way through school. Went to games and visited friends at Clemson throughout though. Also enjoyed the beach and all Charleston had to offer.
That said it is kind of difficult to pull for the Cougs football team.??

I worked my tail off and got my degree, it wasn't easy, i just see all these people that jump on the Clemson ship that grad from other schools and that always perplexed me.

It’s really not hard bro. People in this state grow up cheering for one of the two schools. The lack of pro sports contributes to that. But we’re all happy for you. I can’t imagine how nice it feels to be so much better than somebody based on where a person took classes.
