Oh, it will, it most definitely will. I'm sure Dabo is sick and tired of the crap he's been witnessing from our offense over the last three years. The WR coach might be next.

I suspect that T.Austin was let go because of poor recruiting success.
2024 and 2025 classes are, quite frankly, full of OL holes because of recruiting whiffs.

When he said that the defense had played well enough for us to be undefeated, I knew the axe was about to fall all over the offense.

I think Spiller should be gone too because of all the fumbles that cost us at least three games. FSU,Miami and NC State.

Why do you guys want Adazio? Go read the TA&M forums and they are cheering his dismissal. It’s actually kinda similar to what’s going on in this thread.
I’m gonna ask a dumb question maybe but surely Thomas followed Caldwells footsteps after being under him for many years. How different could the coaching have been? Not that I don’t trust Dabo, but we’ve never really had great offensive line. I’m just personally curious. I hope we find someone good but I tend to believe that it’s more about the Jimmys and Joes than anything else.

Again, like Streeter, this is more of a Dabo failure than anything. However, props to Dabo for seeing the mistake and quickly resolving it. However, when you fire someone this quickly after a promotion, you misjudged. It happens...but hate it for Austin...a great Clemson man...
I know Dabo will help him land on his feet. Austin, IMO, will still have a great career as a coach--just taking a different path now.
I will still say, carrying only 15 OL in the OL room doesn't give hardly any room for error....does no favors to OL coach--whoever that may be...

Spot on Swarley. We're human and this, like last year proves that Dabo still has the fire... not that he needed to, I've just seen that posted a lot.
Dabo had a lot of moving pieces a couple years ago with Tony and Brent and other staff. It's hard to manage that change all at once. So looking back, he's taken care of business and a smoother transition.
Trust the process. This decade ain't over by a Longshot.

I’ve faced this exact thing myself recently. Promoted someone internally but completely misjudged their abilities to fulfill the role. It eventually resolved itself by him voluntarily seeking employment elsewhere but I still kick myself for putting him in a position to fail.

I’m betting that, very soon, we’ll learn that L.Hall is either getting a D-coordinator job at a low profile school, or another D-line coach job at one of the really big money programs.

Carrying 15 isn't bad. To me, 15 is a good number if you expect said 15 to contribute at some point. Saying, don't recruit 10 good ones and 5 that most likely their ceiling is scout team... if that makes sense.

JMO, 16 is the better number.
Our WR numbers seem too high; that is where I’d cut back in order to make room for the additional O-Line recruit.

I totally agree, but take it it the wrong bc I care about Austin and will worry about until he lands another job, but Austin has never proved to be the coach that I thought he would be, plus he couldn't recruit either. Just go back and look at all the O Lineman that chose somewhere else over Clemson, and they were at the top or close to the top of our recruiting board and Austin couldn't get them, but I believe that an old man like Robbie Caldwell would have most likely got them if he would have still been our full time O L coach. Thomas Autin is and will always be a Tiger IMO, he just wasn't that good as a OL coach right now, but I'm sure he will become one of the top OL coaches in the country once he has some years of experience. Best of luck to you Thomas Austin, now go and get some experience as a coach!!!!

I actually expected Grisham and Austin being the only two that would get a pink slip, Hall is a surprise, and it has to be that he has been offered somewhere else, and not actually a pink slip fire!!!

Agreed Leon. Austin is a great guy. Again, only 15 in the OL room give little margin for error. Wish we would increase size to what our peers (BAMA, UGA, OSU) have in their OL rooms....

T.Austin’s biggest shortcoming had been poor recruiting success.
Our OL commitments (scarcity) in 2024 class and our bad start to 2025 class speak to T.Austin’s failure in this critical role for the non-coordinator assistant coaching gigs.

Serious question and I thought uga, osu, Bama, fla etc carried 15 scholarship ol and 5 non scholly. So apologies, I was wrong.
That said, apparently most big p5 schools carry more than 15. 18 for osu but most are the 20 as y'all said. So why does Dabo only carry 15 when it's the hardest position group? I don't recall him ever being asked why other schools do and we don't. Thanks in advance.

Believe this was a necessary change to return the program to elite status.
That said, I'm very sure this wasn't a decision that was taken lightly by Dabo. & it's definitely not a red-letter day for Austin. We can say what we want to about him as a coach, but he was a Tiger through & through. All-ACC player for us, many years on staff as a GA & analyst, & I'm sure he was giving his best effort in his current role, just unfortunately didn't pan out for him.
Hope Austin lands on his feet somewhere and that he will find success in the future.

We have the clout, the support of the Board of Trustees, IPTAY, and now NIL. Whoever we get should be a proven O-Line blue-chip recruiter, developer, and coach (ideally from a team we could soon see in the Playoffs, win/win). PAY UP FOR THIS POSITION!! Bring in some outsider knowledge and fresh recruiting terrain.
Sorry for TA, love the man, just not the results.

This makes me happy. The changes that everyone has been pointing out all year look like they may happen. This is a start anyway. Now they need to dump Grisham and get a decent WR coach.

I was really excited when we brought in TA, thought he would do a great job. Unfortunately, he didn't get the results we hoped for. Best wishes to him, I am sure he will land on his feet. Props to Dabo for making the decision and hope he can bring in a strong recruiter and person who can develop guys to NFL level.

Hall was also sent packing. I believe Eason will now fully coach the Dline. That means a spot opens for a legit and experienced LB coach. Let Wes do his DC thing, and new coach teach LBs how to tackle, get off blocks, and properly cover the line gaps. Atleast this is my hope.

Hate to see it as I know Thomas bleeds orange but the easy assessment is that we have talented offensive lineman who haven't quite lived up to the hype. I'm sure Dabo did it in as positive a way as you can which is referenced by his statement. I would imagine there are a few more firings to come.
Thought they may be post bowl game though. I guess you need to get a jump on hiring the next guy.

I didn’t think he was offensive. Just not very successful over a 2 year period. Wrong fit. Maybe needs seasoning,

Maybe we could poach Steve Lebotzke from the Air Force. He's supposed to be one of the top OL coaches in college football. Surely Clemson would be just a bit more career-rewarding than Air Force.

Steve Addazio

He always had a stout OL while at Boston College.
But then I read this....
"Addazio served as A&M’s offensive line coach for the last two seasons. Last season, the Aggie offensive line allowed the most quarterback hits in the country with 44, according to Pro Football Focus. This season, the offensive front has allowed 32 quarterback hits, which ranks fourth most in the nation, per PFF. In both seasons, A&M has been forced to start three different quarterbacks due to injury."
Ouch.
Maybe pass on Addazio.

I have to give Dabo credit. This is the big change I and many others have seen as the big needed. Followed by wide receiver coach. And as much as we and he love TA, he did what had to be done.

Never want to be praising someone losing their job, but the writing was on the wall on this one. Between a completely underdeveloped line, GR not being able to fully implement his offense because the line could block in his style, and the recruiting whiffs, this one was bound to happen. I just hope that now Garret can get the staff he needs under him and we can hit the portal hard for the line we need now and get back on track with future recruits at the line.
Curious to see if there will be changes in the WR room as well... not calling for it, but if it doesn't happen this year, the seat will be hot for next year for Tyler.

Streeter and now Austin are examples that you don’t put guys in important positions just because you like them and they played at Clemson.

Hate it for Thomas.
He’s a Believer and a great man. Was a really great player in Tigertown back in the day.
A lot like letting Streeter go - it probably was like firing a cousin or a son. Tough stuff but know Coach Swinney has some big plans.
start pumpin that sunshine in !!!

This move is what I wholeheartedly agreed with and I was not surprised by it. Good luck to Dabo to find an excellent offensive line coach.sure have missed Robbie Caldwell who was a good one.
