I don't understand media sympathy for Bama playing

99 snaps on defense.
Do they not have 4 and 5 star players backing up their 4 and 5 star starters?
Did they not have the top rated recruiting class x years running?
Do they not have Gatorade on their side of the field?
Is there not an offense they are defending that also has to run 99 snaps against their vaunted defense?
Did the little walk-on not play 98 of those 99 plays (and still burn you)?

tends to do opponents in. It isn't players getting tired, though yes, that happens. it's that every play an offense runs is a gamble for the defense. the offense knows where everything is going. the defense has to make an educated guess. Give the other team 99 plays, and the chances that the offense is going to find the right combination go up astronomically.

Yes, the D has to go to their attack destination, then react to what is happening. Still, Bama has the depth advantage when they get the substitution chance. That Bama isn't as deep as they were is more about experience than actual depth.

I'm with you on that one. They kept saying that Alabama's defense was not very deep. Have they not recruited defensive players every year? Like one of the other posters commented " they recruit 4 and 5 star players every year for the last 8 years. So why was the defense not very deep?
