Some of the newer ones may not appeal to as broad an audience as in the past but in the long run will make money

There are very few trilogies where all three movies are considered "good" so it puts that series in a pretty rare category. Yet, they aren't talked about at all and it's somewhat of a shame, but not totally unexpected. The names of the movies are confusing and none of them are "spectacular" in their own right so they end up being forgettable. Still, I think the trilogy should get more respect than it seems to get in the zeitgeist.

The new movie has a different director and no Andy Serkis, so I'm not nearly as optimistic about it, but it does have a couple of the same writers as the original trilogy so hopefully it'll surprise me.
