he coached at Airport High School for a season prior to making it to the college ranks.
Ended up at NCST prior to taking an early retirement.

Tough three years. Being from NC, I remember them well. Unfortunately.

My Cocaine couldn't quite keep the momentum going after Sheridan's surprising resignation in 1993.

Sad to hear. Played against his son when he was QB at TR and Sheridan was still at Furman. Sheridan gave Danny fits.

That guy was a tough out for us when he was at NCST.They always gave us fits.
He was tough at Furman too,.
I remember when he first got to state he redesigned their helmet into the diamond design that Furman sported.

I camped at Furman for the QB/receiver camp when Sheridan was there. Great camp. Coaches were Perry Tuttle, Benny Cunningham, David Whitehurst, and Jerry Butler. It was awesome.
I always thought Sheridan was a class act. RIP coach.

Looks so cheap when your using your helmet to make up for your lack of play with recruits.
Great coach, Rest In Peace ####!🙏🏽✝️

He was a good one. He spoke at my high school athletic banquet when he was at Furman. Coach Howard did too. They are the only two speakers I remember...don't know how my little high school got them.
I remember Sheridan told a story about how he was trying to teach players to avoid alcohol. If I remember correctly, he said he dropped a worm in a glass of alcohol and it died immediately. He asked one of the players what that meant. The player said, "ummmm...worms can't swim?"

My dad coached high school football with Coach Sheridan at OBW and Airport before moving on to be a head coach in the Lowcountry and then into being a full time pastor. He and Coach Sheridan remained great friends over the years. in recent years, they enjoyed some time watching spring training games down in Florida.
I went to his QB/WR camp at NCSU when I was in high school. I was not being recruited at all, but he went out of his way to work with me during the camp. He was a great guy and expected nothing but hustle and hard work from everyone around him.
My dad is coming up to do the funeral for the family this weekend. This one will be tough on him. Keep him in your prayers!

His decision to leave coaching at such a relatively young age was certainly very surprising. Enjoyed watching his Furman teams. Condolences to the family.
