I know it will never happen, but if FSU & Clemson were

to join the SEC, then the SEC would have 9 of the top 15 ranked teams in recruiting for 2013...

A boy can dream though... they're both in the SEC in my playstation dynasty & it is so much fun! In my first year, I went 10 - 2 in the regular season. The Clemson v. S Car game decided the SEC East champion, and we won 21 - 20. Can you imagine what that would be like in reality!!! Incredible!

I too would like to see FSU and Clemson in the SEC. Not only would it be great football, but it might help to offset future revenue losses that I believe will occur once realignment is over. It is the networks that are encouraging the expanding footprint model for payouts. Is anyone asking why? I believe the payout model is going to change to a saturation model once the alignment is set. Networks are not going to want to pay the ACC and SEC for every cable set in a state in which they share teams. They will wind up splitting the revenue and thereby reducing their overhead for the expense of the product. They have already broken up the large market of Texas. If they can insure that the Atlantic states are shared they can own the best football in the U.S. at a reduced rate. The footprint expansion model is just bait to get us to ignore natural fits. Since college football is not as viable in the North and on the West coast as it is in the South we are the ones being encouraged to give up our natural assets so that they, the networks, can try to redistribute the wealth (through contracts) and try to maintain commercial interest in the other regions (by forcing us to share our teams and recruiting grounds). Six crystal footballs in the SEC has hurt viewership in the North and West and therefore constricted their advertising rates in those areas.

The best thing the ACC and SEC could do is to consolidate. Yes I know we were once the Southern Conference, but what I am speaking of is control over the finest sports region of the nation. Instead of being pitted against one another we should unite to enhance our contract bargaining position by both consolidating our footprint and expanding our total market. If we are not split apart then we could have much more say in what our product is worth. And, at a time when travel costs will continue to escalate it would be much simpler to group our divisions geographically. The ACC academics would benefit the SEC and the SEC sports revenue would benefit the ACC. Together we truly would be the best conference in the nation, and the absolute best product for sports hungry television. Basketball, Baseball, Track and Field, and most years Softball, Swimming, and Track and Field would be supreme. Football would be unchallenged.
