play-in game for our Tigers. Win and we are in. Lose and go home.

That is my gut as well. Guys have to get this one. Leave no doubt. And I think we can win two or even the whole thing if we get our best performance each time. I wouldn't wager on that but have my fingers crossed. Go Tigers!

I’m cautiously optimistic, but I feel like we might need a bit of help if we only win one game. Watching teams like Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona State to lose early.

We need two wins in the ACC tourney because of the UL loss***

in the ACC Tournament, and both of us had NET rankings in the 30s. Neither of us got in.

I’m not convinced that a win on Thursday helps. We’ve beaten NC State twice, by a large margin. What does beating them a third time prove? On the flip side, what does losing to them prove? I don’t think the outcome moves the needle.

I also don’t think a win over Notre Dame or Virginia Tech means much, since we are clearly better than both teams and are undefeated against them in the regular season. A loss could knock us out of the NCAA Tournament, but I don’t think a win helps.

I believe we are in right now. I don’t see how the committee can keep the third place ACC team with 20+ wins and a winning record against quad 1 teams out of the tournament.

I would hope we are in at this point too and that the bad losses are not weighed as much by the committee. While a win vs these teams might not mean much we certainly don't want a loss in our first game in post season staring the committee in the face, creating doubt.

We are not particular close. Might have to win 2-3 in the Acc tourney

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct...We need two wins***

It’s not just Lunardi. It’s virtually every bracket on bracket matrix. Including their most accurate bracket makers.

so win the ACC tournament and we are automatically in?

We are firmly out with a loss in Thursday. Probably still out with only 1 win.

A win improves our ranking in the mathematical models that are a large part of what the committee uses to assess teams. A loss hurts those rankings.

You acknowledge they spurned us with NET rankings in the 30s but are convinced we’re in with a NET ranking in the 60s and 4 quad 3/4 losses. Makes sense.

Lundardi and the others have been pretty predictive of the selections.

and they all have us out.

Yes, I'd love to see us get in but I'm not expecting it.

UNC will get the benefit of the doubt.

Clemson won't.

I just have a funny feeling it is going to be us and UNC in the semis and the winner of that will get one of the final tickets to the dance and the loser is NIT bound.

pretty much in agreement that we have not earned an NCAA berth yet with our season to date. Your take sounds like a 'we were robbed' and 'if they don't want you in, you won't get in' kind of defense in the making if we don't TCB in this week's tournament.

You should have more faith in Brad's ability to crack that 2-win ACCT nut finally. This being his most talented and experienced roster, and so clearly NCAA-worthy as you have consistently stated, then Brad should be able to coach us into it accordingly.

Go Tigers!

You’ve posted a lot about the loss to Louisville.

We all understand that it was a bad loss. What’s your objective in continuing to post about it?

3

Its probably the reason we aren't making the NCAAs.

Re: Don't talk about it and it will go away?

Getting outcoached and outplayed in losses to Louisville and Loyal-Chicago are the reasons we are not going to be in the NCAAT unless we win the ACCT.

Absent those two losses, Clemson would be tied for 1st place in the ACC regular season (15-5), albeit still coming in 3rd on tiebreakers and 24-7 overall, with ZERO quad-4 losses. We'd be in.

We're already out. Most likely need 2 ACCT wins to scratch out a place, 3 ACCT wins of course guarantees getting in.
