Defense looks strong if they can develop a few defensive ends.
Go Tigers!!! Beat Kentucky!!!

I really don't see how our D line will be affected much if any. Those guys that will be stepping up as starters, DeMonte Capehart, Payton Page, Caden Story, Stephiylan Green, Vic Burley, and coming in Hevin Brown-Shuler, and Champ Thompson are all ranked as High 4 star players with none of them Rated lower than 5.8, 5.9, and 6.0, and none with less than a season of experience but the ones just coming in as 2023 guys. And Peter Wood is the highest ranked as a 5 star, and our highest rated player as 6.2. By the time September 2024 rolls in, our D line should be about as good as this past season, and I expect our D line to be even better by mid to late October, and that long only bc of our Sophomore guys becoming starters, and a couple of freshman coming in to join our group of D lineman that is going to be really young but highly talented and highly rated big FB uglies on the D side of our FB team, heck I'm excited to see this group get more experience and D line continuing to be the heart, the major strength of FB team!!!

This has me pretty pumped up. I’m ready for more Khalil Barnes! That high flying interception against little brother in Columbia was awesome! Will be fun to see which of the incoming freshmen DBs surprise us next season (hopefully we stay healthy and don’t need to depend on any of them).

Go Tigers!

So much depth in the middle, it'll be interesting to see if they come up with certain packages to have a guy like Woods move outside with the athletic ability. I could maybe see it in obvious run situation to get more size up front. But hopefully someone steps up and stands out in the Spring to play opposite of Parker.

Yup everyone acting like the cupboard's empty No way is the cupboard's empty Yes we could use a DE and OT a boundary receiver but no way is the cupboard's empty quit turning the ball over and we make a 12 team playoff no problem

Any knocks on depth are completely due to Dabo's lack of portal use.***

You listed 7 DE’s but gave a F for depth. You only play two at a time. So it’s experience you are talking about and not depth.

Pretty sure Ryan meant the talent drop-off between starters and backups is lousy, which it is, and needs to be addressed.

He is either questioning the quality or that they are unproven. Its not just about numbers.

Denhoff's ceiling is a 10-12 snap per game guy. Not a starting P5 DE. The staff has not had one positive thing to say about Patterson the entire time he has been here. Lawson was a late-sign fallback so I'm sure Ryan is taking that into account when assigning the depth grade.

I think our defense is in pretty good shape except need another good defensive end. If the freshman that played this year can keep improving we will have another great defense.

Injuries, which are inevitable could potentially play a role imo. Whereas this season we were loaded with depth. Next season the offense is going to have to be a strength while the D grows up.

Defense is definitely thinner next year.

I think we see Caden Story slide outside to DE

this spring. He's buried at DT and hasn't been able to add the weight needed there. He was recruited as a guy many thought could play DE.

Will also be interesting to see if Goodwin possibly adjusts as Venables did in Simmons senior year where we play more of a 3-3-5 with Barnes in the Simmons role and a ton of blitzing.

I could live with Woods, Capehart, Parker, Burley, Williams, Page and Green getting the snaps up front. Carter returning is huge, as he Woodaz, Brown, Crayton and Anderson are all long and athletic. Depth at safety only needs Tyler and Covil to get healthy.
