If we played 10 times, I don't think we would ever blow FSU out, but I think we probably win 3 and have a chance to win 2 more close ones.

game, FSU gets the ball and the crowd backs then up and they go nowhere in 3 downs, they punt and with all the momentum on our side Tajh --playing at his best--passes to our receivers who--playing at their best catch balls in their hands and we put 14 on the board, along comes our D and crowd again-and FSU is stymied again.
The game looks different from that point of view rather than fumbling 2X in the 1st quarter, having our receivers drop every easy ball that came their way, and playing D behind rather than in front of the wrecking ball.

Oct 22, 2013, 12:13 PM

Clemson finds a way to actually score a touchdown... suddenly it's 17-14 and the crowd is completely into the game and the defense is playing well.. Never know what may have happened.
We may have gone on to lose but if we just played better at any of those key points it could have been so different

If we execute like we executed against UGA we are in the game. Spotting FSU 14 points to start the game on a stupid fumble and a terrible play by Tajh pretty much sealed the deal in the first five minutes of the game, and let FSU dictate the terms of the game.

To suggest we'd split 10 games with them is not just insulting to them, but to our intelligence as well. I can't believe he would say that. He might think it-- heck, he might even BELIEVE that-- but don't say it!

First of all...
Oct 22, 2013, 12:28 PM
|
|
He wasn't holding the ball properly and it was stripped-- props to FSU for that. Secondly, the play on Tajh was a fumble-- again thanks to FSU pressure-- not a "backwards throw" or whatever you just called it. Those plays were a combination of FSU out-playing us and a lack of fundamentals on our part. That is what makes them better. It's that simple.

What I don't get about the comment is it makes him look bad. If I was a coach and got beat 51-14 by someone, I'd be doing my best to convince everyone that team was light years ahead of my team.
If they are evenly matched and you lose 51-14, what does that say about his coaching? Maybe he is trying to say it was just bad luck, but man, that is REALLY bad luck.

2. Florida State beat Clemson worse than any top-three team has been beaten at home in a very long time How long has it been since a beating like this happened? No one can find a record of a top-three team losing by more points at home than Clemson did on Saturday night. This was as crushing of a home loss as I can ever imagine witnessing. Clemson fans, who had been chirping on Twitter about "disrespecting the Tigers," have gone completely silent. Remember that Clemson fans were planning on setting a record for the loudest stadium ever? I'm betting that didn't happen. Once the team ran on the field, it was all downhill for Tiger fans.

Do you think we're as bad as we looked Saturday?
Oct 22, 2013, 12:29 PM
|
|
Here's what I saw:
An FSU team that's LOADED and played as near a flawless game as I've ever seen coming off of a bye week. An FSU team that may be the best in the country and, right now, has the best win BY FAR of anyone in the country.
A Clemson team that coughed up the ball on the first play from scrimmage, spotted FSU 14 points early, and couldn't catch a break to get the momentum back. A Clemson team that collectively played it's worst game in 2 years.
Is FSU better than us? Yeah, I think so. Are they 37 points better? No. It was a perfect #### storm for Clemson.
Now we just have to see if and how the team responds.
They can start acting like a bunch of ####### like everyone on Tigernet or go spank Maryland!

If the ball had gone forward, would it have been an incomplete pass. It looked like when he got hit he was in the throwing motion and he could only manage to throw it backwards, or maybe I was hallucinating that.

I understand Dabo's sentiment, but I think his statement only works with the qualifier of " If Clemson plays at the level I know it can..." then maybe get those 5 theoretical rematch wins.

This whole argument is an exercise in futility. I can't believe Sweeney had the nerve to say that in the first place. For FSU to come in and pound the Tigers on their home field (AKA Death Valley), shows a level of play that, on the Clemson side, borders on arrogance, and on the FSU side as just flat out prepared.

I said it once and I'll say it again ...Dabo i9n no way takes any responsibility for this beatdown ...He looks at it like he just happened to be the Head Coach when it occurred..He never learns anything in these epic beatdowns ..He is only concerned with deflecting the criticism and keeping his job..He says just the opposite but his actions say different..He will never own a big loss like this one...which prevents the program from moving forward..It's just who he is..It's tough on the players and other Coaches ..

Wouldn't happen sorry Dabo. Clemson started playing FSU consistently in 1988. Clemson is 7-24 against the noles since then (didn't play in '90 or 91'). Not counting Saturday's game the Tigers have been beat by a average of 20pts per loss. The tigers have been beaten 7 times at home since 1988 and only won 2 games in Tallahassee. If they played 10 times the Tigers might win three, that's if half the games are played at home.
