Some would say that calling the game not to lose

Is a big mistake. Would have rather seen some fight than the crap we got in the second half. Then to top it off, he sent in our hope for the future to get pummeled in an obvious passing situation. This brought back memories of the Rob Spence days.

...we didn't get the ball inside our 10 every drive. We shouldn't be scared of making a mistake (caveat: don't call a wide reciever pass). Being passive doesn't win football games.

Finding a "rhythm" sounds fine, but first try and find some semblance of an OL.

I am embarrassed to lose in the fashion we did to tonight. We played pretty good in the Fist half offensively but misses execution on the field goal and the kick off return . Stoudt was a man of 2 halves. He played well in the first exempt for the interception . In the second half he was checking down way to much and did not get to open receivers like Jordan Leggett.. He seemed uncomfortable and rattled in the fourth quarter. He stated too long in the pocket a completed dump off Passes the rest of the game. The O Line stunk as well. The D line was even worse. Very few sacks aNd could not stop gurley. Over all a poor showing and it is time to go back and retool and refocus or it will be a long seAson

when it barely worked all game long and we're down on the road and backed up in Georgia territory? Yeah I would call that conservative. To some that is considered conceding a loss. Then throw Watson in there to get nailed at the end??? Morris is great against average teams

We had the most predictable 2nd half offense of any game all day. Seemed like Morris decided to accept the loss. I'm upset for our players.

This just pisses me off 100% more than just losing outright.

That is the epitome of playing not to lose and the fact that this guy is getting paid to make those calls is pathetic. I still trust that Chad can get it done, but he needs to man up and admit he cost us this game with the play calling and personnel decisions that were made.

Maybe he did get too conservative, this humiliation lies primarily on the backs of a pathetic OL.

True. But after a couple of three and outs, what did he have to lose (except the ball game.) Those situations are really where we missed Tajh, Sammy and Martavius. When those guys were here, Chad would have let Tajh air it out - even deep in our own territory.

Poor effort from you tonight coach. Show some confidence in these kids. Or laugh off the criticism at the Country Club.
Your ascent in coaching has been remarkable and well deserved coach ... but you disavowed all your "all in" cliches to the kids today.

Both lines got worked tonight!! If DJ is a legit D1 running back, I am a jet airplane pilot. Not!!
Play calling sucked BOTH SIDES!!!!!
Why didn't we utilize the tight ends??? Oh! And by the way special teams were embarrassing!!
I just hope they get it together!!
Go TIGERS

Why didn't Morris see this too? That is the big question mark and the biggest flaw in this whole situation. Is he the problem? Think about it...

Morris is an interesting study when playing from behind, totally different when he is playing with a lead.

Tried not to make that big mistake

When you constantly go 3 and out from deep in your own territory, that's not a lot different from a turnover. Coach Morris' play calling lost this game and our defense will be blamed for it. Good game Tiger D - can't catch a premier back when you are exhausted.

We brought Morris in, paid him over a million dollars, because he was supposed to be an offensive mastermind/juggernaut. I'm sorry but this is clearly not the case. Look at other great offensive teams .... they run the offense and make the defense adjust to them, even when times get tough. Why should play calling get conservative when you start on your 18 yard line? Last time I checked it takes 10 yards to get a first down whether you start from your own 18 yard line or if you start on the 50. The only reason for that is no faith in your personnel to execute which they clearly proved they could in the first half.
21-21 at half, 45-21 at the end ... same players on the field for both halves. I've seen us out coached before but never that blatantly. Clemson university should be asking for the equivalent of a half of games salary back from Morris based on his performance last night.

by multiple scores what have you got to lose by letting your offense try something different? Is it better to give them a tenth or higher 3 and out or to let them at least lose trying everything they can? Either way they feel whipped if it doesn't work.

"I thought they were able to load up the box a little bit and keep us from running the ball," Morris said.
Uh, Coach, they were able to load up the box because we ran the ball.

I'm sick of his gimmicky offense. I'd kill for a conventional I-formation attack. Utilizing the TE's, RB's, and WR.

GA. used all there ""Freshmen"" backs to keep the main man (Gurley) fresh , yep, they made some mistakes**,they also made some huge plays !!!!!! ___ you can't learn sitting on the bench ---- with the temps in the 90's -- we should have done the samething ___ play all the players to keep the team fresh*** ___did we ever use a tight-end ???? what happen to Williams & Peake, were they suppended for the second half ???? Choice could have, rested our backs along with Gallman and made a difference in the heat maybe ??? waited way to long to put Watson in, if you are going to run the quarterback ??????______ lots of questions, and only a couple weeks to get something going for Fla.State ----last night, they looked just as ""BIG & FAST"" as they did last year !!!! _____ hoping we can get er' done !!!! Go Tigers !!! ( I still bleed ""ORANGE"" ) and will pullin' for ya' forever !!!!!! GO TIGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a neck and neck game, we could have won but #### poor pussyfoot playcalling is where we lost. Cole Stoudt looked like Kyle Parker last night.

Our OL couldn't even vie our QB time to throw the short dump passes. They were awful and cost us the game.

Give Georgia some credit.
Aug 31, 2014, 1:19 PM

They also have good players on defense. However, Morris made it really easy for Pruitt to tee up on our offense in the 2nd half. We had a pretty good grind-it-out kind of drive to end the 1rst. Maybe Morris thought he could bring that again. Obviously not. He should have recognized that and adjusted accordingly. I thought our kids played well when they got to play. Unfortunately, the coaches just wouldn't let them loose in the 2nd, and I feel bad for them. They deserved better. We all knew this would be a kind of transitional year, and we all knew that Gurley was going to get his. But I was encouraged by what I saw in the first half. There's some mistakes in execution to clear up, but we looked pretty good.

Morris has a problem of
Aug 31, 2014, 2:41 PM
|

not adjusting to what a defense is doing, and continues to call the same sorry plays over and over that don't work not sure if its Morris just being pigheaded, doesn't really know what he's doing or just doesn't trust the players we have on offense. I think Morris needs to learn how to diagnose a defense maybe Venables could help him.

I'm tired of these offensive "gurus" like Morris
Aug 31, 2014, 5:43 PM
|
|
who claim to be so innovative and have all these great plays, only to see their offenses collapse when it matters most. I'm not impressed with a 40 ppg average against mediocre teams when the same system can't get more than 1 first down in an entire half.
P.S. Throwing in a trick play every now and then doesn't make one an offensive "guru." Outsmarting talented defenses and scoring the ball when your team badly needs a touchdown does. And I'm still not sure which category Morris falls under.
