Can FSU repeat as champions? Should we be rooting for them?
Sep 24, 2014, 10:30 PM

It's obvious to me every other conference was hoping for FSU to lose. The backlash has been strong against us. Many people were rooting for Clemson for their own selfish reasons and their hatred of Jameis Winston.
SEC was for sure because they want to get two teams in the playoffs and Big 10 also cause they are horrible and need all the help they can get.
There are only two teams from the ACC that could get into the playoffs. Us and FSU. If we had beaten FSU and won out we'd be in. Now that FSU has won they are the only team from the ACC that can make it in to the 4 team playoffs.
Which now brings us to another question, should we be rooting for ACC representation in the playoffs or should we be rooting for FSU to lose two conference games so that we can back doors our way into the ACC Championship?
After giving it some thought, I think it's more important to have ACC representation than seeing two SEC schools get in. As a Clemson fan living in Columbia, there's only one game I really care about this year. Our future is bright and I fully expect us to contend for a NC within 2 years

No and no, unless jw is gone then yes to the 2nd but that scenario provides 0 chance as to the first.

I don't think they have the defense this year, but having them win helps the acc which helps clemson. Would rather clemson win it would help us more.

I have serious doubts as to whether FSU can even repeat as ACC champs. much less national champs. I anxiously await their stumble....and fully expect us to fill the void and win the conf. And, no, I won't pull for them. They are now our main rival in recruiting and for the ACC title. I wish only misfortune on dumbo and his band of miscreants.

They aren't the team they were last year. They're more like 2012. They are good enough to win them all, but it will be a struggle.

Well acc could potentially get two however unlikely. I think the acc has most out of conference wins over top 10's.
If scar wins out(except for us) and wins sec, they'd have to consider us if we also won out and took #1 to OT at their place with a true freshman QB in his first start. Only hope is that us and scar are top 10 by the time we play.
What I see happening most likely is FSU, Oregon, Oklahoma, (insert sec).
And I don't think FSU d is great either but which of those teams listed has a better d?
By the end of the year I think we have most our issues corrected, and can beat anyone.

You're going to have to win your conference. AP & Coach's poll won't matter. One conference is going to be very unhappy right now it looks to be the B1G.

The preseason ranking placed lame ### teams in the top ten and their weak schedules kept them there all year. When these pansies line up against Bama, Bama past through them like a dose of salts through a widow woman, straight to the trophy room.

talent to beat FSU. That's not to say it couldn't happen. We should all agree that a one loss FSU is much more likely than a two loss ACC season. It would take two losses to put us in the CCG. I don't think that's realistic.
IF FSU loses one game we won't make the CCG, we probably won't make the OB we might have a chance to play in the Peach but the circumstances would be complicated.
I want the OB if we can't make the CCG. I guess because it seems the most likely fate for this team. For that to happen FSU probably must make the playoff. So yeah, I'm cheering for them. We can use their money to build our Oculus.
I'm cheering for UGAy and USuCk too. We need them to win for our SOS. I know, I should be RAed out of existence and banned for life.

than likely if FSU makes the playoffs, I'll support their efforts on behalf of the conference.
However, until then, as usual, I'll concentrate on our own with a keen eye toward the Clemson/SC game. Despite other opinions, a 10-2 season wouldn't be anything to gripe about nor would a decent bowl game...IMO, of course.

I dont think FSU is the same caliber team they were last year. Benjamin had alot if not half of winstons tds. Devonte Freeman and jamea wilder jr were also very important to their sucess.
2nd, I will never dislike something or someone else to my detriment. FSU excelling at this point helps the acc. Now we can argue to what degree they help, but ultimately they do. Im tired of hearing the SEC is better. So if big ten wins the NC, im happy. If pac 12 wins, im happy(Go Ducks). If Mac wins, im surprised and happy. If ACC wins im exuberant. Even if it's fsu

Of course FSU could get on a roll, and repeat. It's way too early to tell. If they don't play better than they have so far, they will surely get knocked off short of another NC.
ACC representation in the play-off or as national champions isn't enough, especially if it's always FSU. In the national discussion, outsiders think of the ACC as just FSU and Clemson. What we also need is Miami, VA Tech, BC, GA Tech, Duke, Louisville, Pitt, and UVA in the mix. If we have a good subset of that group in the top 25 regularly, and a subset competing for the top 10 spots consistently, that would be a huge positive for the ACC.

I'm with you, lou. I don't give a timker's damm abt FSU or the conference....it's all abt Clemson. I want them to lose 2, us get in the CCG and go back to the Orange Bowl. Any benevolence I might have felt for the Noles went out the door as I watched Winston parading on the sideline Sat night.

an SEC school to bring it home. That's done. FSU is now free to embarrass themselves royally and lose at any occasion.
Besides, if this team pulls off what most of us think they're capable of doing, even if the Orange isn't available because of FSU falling short on the CFB we'd be attractive to the committee for the Cotton or Fiesta.
I'd like to see a sea of weirded out fat NC State slobs pole dancing a victory against the Noles this Saturday, that's for sure.

I will get gang raped for this, but I would even pull for Usuc for the first and only time in my life against them. JW is so pathetic and a disgrace to the game. Jimbo is just as at fault for puting up with his antics and has lost respect of all coaches and teams for that matter. I just get pissed thinking of the game, not just because of the outcome but seeing him dress out, come back out running around looking like a thug that he is and seeing him every 5 seconds during the entire game!!!

If they lose a game it ruins our chance for the Orange Bowl. I can't see them losing two regular season. I think we run the table from here so I want the Orange Bowl. The rest of ACC bowl ties-ins are pathetic.

I truly hope the Criminoles lose every other game this year. I hope Florida destroys them even though it would be an SEC team.
Look, the more FSU wins, the better chance they have at top 5 recruiting classes every year, which makes it harder for Clemson to win the ACC.
It doesn't matter what the rest of the ACC does! If Clemson goes undefeated, we will be in the playoff.

Well said and TU, Mr. Bell. FSU succeeding does nothing whatsoever to help Clemson University. This whole ACC allegiance thing is bizarre to me. I pull for Clemson.....not the conference we're in. Period.
