I'm obsessed and was busy killing a Bradford Pear. For those who are as ignorant as I was a few years ago these trees are like Kudzu. And they stink.

They grow roots in topsoil, huge extensions of the trunk and sprout up in every direction. In two years one of the sprouts growing from the root will be 2" in diameter. I have several of those growing along a fence line before I declared war.

So I got this to cut into the bark around the stump and a level spot in the 1-2" sprouts:

And this to kill the monster(s):

The theater was my yard, front and back. My attack plan was to drill 1/2" holes through enemy lines and inject a chemical agent assuring damage to the enemies' forces.

Being aware that the bio warfare is not sanctioned by the Geneva Convention I expect total compliance from Lungers to keep this on the downlow. I assure you I mixed the chemical agent according to specs but can also inform that if this solution does not completely destroy my enemy I will create a Little Boy solution and even a Fat Man to end this war.

Sounds like you are fighting the good fight. Hate those things.

we have a neighbor down in PI that has four in his frontyard and cuts the limbs back every year like crepe murder style. They are ugly and stink and have taken over the small yard. I would say they have paid more to cut them back every year than it would cost to get them taken out.

all our assault today but noticed some 'defoliation,' if that's even a word, on some of the smaller sprouts. Lord willing, tomorrow I'm going to bombard the population without regard to the innocent. I'll double the concentration of my chemical solution.

I'll go MOAB on it before next week. I got 50 bucks in this war and I'm not throwing half a 'C,' note away.

BTW, the round chainsaw blade can be sharpened and that little feller is deadly to things too big for a weedeater and too small for my Mac 10-10 chainsaw. I mounted it on a Dewalt cordless cutoff tool and wave it across the bottom of those sprouts. It's made to carve wood but I got no wood to carve.

Looks like it could hurt you for sure. Take care my man!***

I own legitimate tools designed to do all those functions the angle grinder is being altered to do. Well, I don't have a lathe but everything else.

The most critical part of keeping a disc from exploding is to tend to the edges of the part you're working on so that the disc leaves the edge with the contact part moving away from the center of the subject. The natural instinct is to use the tip of the grinding disc which is fartherest from your hand. That part of the disc is always moving at a 90 degree angle from the tool. However so is the opposite end. It's safer and more efficient and safer to use both.

Anyone good with a buffer knows that if the leading edge of the pad is rotating toward the center of the subject as it crosses the outer edge of the subject its going to become a stripper and remove more surface than is desirable.

When that happens with a sanding, cutting or grinding disc it removes the edge of the subject rather than sanding or grinding it.

The guy buffing the knife is an idiot looking for a new way to die. That knife will take flight. I've seen all those idiotic videos.

Well, the next winter must have killed it. Either that or the cup of roundup I put in the roots.
