Staff Changes at O-line

If Dabo does indeed make a change at O-line coach at the end of the year, one would think Sam Pittman would have to be at the top of the list of candidates. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that he's out as Arkansas HC at the end of this year.

but we won't, I don't think.
I just don't think he's a good fit for the culture in the coaches at Clemson. I like him, I just don't see him fitting in.
I may be wrong, and boy would I be glad to be.

How about Steve Addazio, former head coach at Boston College, who's now the OL coach at Texas A&M. I think he and Dabo have a close relationship.

I have thought for a couple of years that would have been a slam dunk hire. And yes, they are friendly.

Why in the world would Coach Austin be replaced?

Look, he is a Clemson man I get it. The oline at Clemson has been horrible for 2 full seasons( minus 3 games??). If you are good with not winning a natty, then keep the guy. I mean 10 wins a year got Dabo 11 million a year. We don't have to win anymore natty's. 10 wins a year will make a lot of Clemson Men rich! It's the system. If I were Dabo, I wouldn't change it either. Why would he.

We won 2 titles and played in 4 along with 6 playoff appearances and were never even close to dominant on the line… maybe just above average a year or two but our probs right now are more than just the line… we have a young qb who is like 99% of quarterbacks not named DW or TL and need time to develop , along with a wr group that is nowhere near as complete as it was during those times … I belive we have pieces but not the entire group especially down the field. And really a scheme that for the most part hast changed in 10 years and the passing game needs a face lift… I think Riley can do that when he has the right pieces. Austin is in his second year I believe and has gotten some decent recruits he just needs to develop… now next year if they look like they did for most of this year I would def agree but my money is def on him staying with how Dabo praises him so much .

It took injuries for TA to go to a zone blocking scheme and start more talented underclassmen the last two games. It wasn't a change he decided to make. Injuries forced him to make the change. The line play vastly improved and it wasn't due to coaching. It was due to his hand being forced by injuries. Everyone within 1000 miles of Clemson could see Miller needed to be benched or at the least assisted with a zone scheme against FSU. The freshman DE was dominating him all game. The same with Mahfa at tailback and the freshman DBs (Although the starters at DB haven't warranted being replaced. The freshmen just balled out.) I think our current staff has a tendency to be too loyal to their starters.

Dabo and Sam don’t share the same philosophy on size of OL Room.
I do think Dabo is about to make a little tweak there though…..15 is too low.

I agree, Sam Pittman for OL coach. I also think Nick Saban should be hired as DB coach, even though our current DB coaches are pretty good, I think Nick might be better.

Yes please. Our center was telegraphing snaps for 8 games this season and didn't stop until the ND game and look what happened. THAT is 10000% on Austin. He'd never sniff a job of this caliber at any other top flight football program, but yet, he here is at Clemson. He embodies Dabo's worst blindpot; hiring coaches that he personally likes and are former players.
