the 2025 class, and we still have a 2024 season to play. How much of an impact do you really expect Coach Matt Luke to have on our existing O-Line in 2024?

And, going forward beyond that, remember, conventional wisdom says it takes time to develop offensive linemen, maybe moreso than any other position on the team. So, maybe even 2025 is going to be up in the air.

Things certainly ARE looking up, no matter what, though!

What? If Luke is the coach we think he is, he can do a lot. Also, Luke should be able to better recognize where they can be successful and work with the OC to play to those strengths. If we don’t see significant improvement after an entire spring, summer and fall camp I will be disappointed. When his recruits get here it will be that much better. But until then, we have games to play and win!

Are you suggesting we tell recruits we are full and use the spots for portal guys?

Yes he is suggesting that we tell all these recruits that there is ZERO chance they can touch the field as a Freshman, and we are going to need to bring in Portal OL until we think they are good enough to play. That is a bold strategy in recruiting…….

It's Luke's job to coach the one's already here & to recruit .

IF, you had took a break from your Ignorant Whining, you would have seen Luke's intro presser, when he talked bout recruiting, building relationships was the WAY to do it, not the portal.

It's not Dabs UPOS

Maybe Luke can develop the talent we have.

into our current offense. We've had good signings at OL in the past but they never seemed to be road graders due to the scheming. I'm hoping Luke is given the liberty to tweak our offensive scheme for the better and hopefully going forward for years to come.

Having a proven, successful OL coach will change everything about our OL. The feedback he gives to Dabo and Riley alone will make a difference. Luke will see things that Austin didn’t, or in the very least communicate it up the ladder in different ways. There are tons of different ways that having a new OL coach can change the trajectory of our entire offense. There is a reason that most successful Varsity High School coaches are also the OL coaches.

Now that Coach Luke will have some time, I'm pretty sure that we will see improved technique and better play from the O Line. Or to take a "pessimistic" view, it can't get any worse. My guess is we will see more consistency, which has been lacking.

Why are we continuing to intentionally misspell words on the topic line? Can we move on from this? It's been over a decade and it's cringy.

I expect Luke to have a bigger impact developing players then recruiting. With the exception of last year, Austin pulled decently rated players. IMO his biggest weakness was development.

Yeah, it's going to take two years to get the OL fixed. Maybe when CK is a senior, things will get interesting.

A positive impact is all i am looking for.

If we just have a clean pocket on pass pro or better leverage run blocking 10% more of the time we will have much better output

If Cade has time in the pocket to go through his progressions, we have seen what he can do. Just look at the last drive of the bowl game.

I think Luke will improve technique and intensity in the offseason and I expect to see improvement next season. But, you are correct that an upgrade in talent probably has to come in order for us to make big leaps rather than incremental strides.

IMO, Luke is going to be able to find at least 7 or 8 current OL, that fit or are close to his "model" and develop them into an above average group. All the rest will get better as a result.
