Yeah I hope we don’t do this “private tailgate experience” but I will say this the public or first come first serve areas around Clemson have dwindled down exponentially over the last 15 years while IPTAY has expanded. I used to park over by the Walker course and now that’s been IPTAY for the last few years.

I used to park down below the library stairs headed towards the band practice field was for free. I’m not sure unless you would need a shuttle there is any free parking. Walker course was another option have not been over there in a while.

Corporate tailgaiting - just say no...

Clemson's vast public tailgate scene is probably one of the best (if not the best) in all of college football. I certainly hope no one in the Clemson administration will ever feel the need to change the very nature of Clemson's game day experience by monetizing tailgating...

“Not because they need to but because they can.”
Let’s hope this doesn’t happen to us.

It’s hypocritical to expect elite level facilities and pay 7-8 figure coaching salaries

but insist that tailgating remain the same.
Schools can make money having corporate sponsored tailgating areas. Some fans want a more premium experience.
This leaves something for everyone, while still maximizing all revenue streams to continue to pay high dollar amounts to have the facilities, equipment, and pay that our football program demands.

but insist that tailgating remain the same.
Schools can make money having corporate sponsored tailgating areas. (Again, I fundamentally disagree that EVERYTHING should be for sale just so someone can make another buck. Clemson IS and should remain a COMMUNITY, not a STOCK that is unattainable for 99.99% of the Clemson community) Some fans want a more premium experience. (Yes and some corporations want to piggyback on the success of Clemson by buying access to a success that they contributed zilch to creating)
This leaves something for everyone, (Yes, it leaves the very best for those with the deepest pockets and it leaves whatever is left over for everyone else) while still maximizing all revenue streams to continue to pay high dollar amounts to have the facilities, equipment, and pay that our football program demands.(You either stand for something or you don’t. One of the things I stand for is, “not everything is for sale”.)

In other words, a bunch of rich a-holes think they are too good to tailgate with good ole Clemson fans. This is just an extension of the idea behind the private luxury boxes.
This country is run by the uber-rich. As George Carlin said, It's a small club and you & I (& 99% of Clemson fans) are NOT in it.

their own HOMEADE devilled egg sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, fried chicken, wings,salsa,slaw,chili,.....and of course VINEGAR PIE! They screwed up Tigerama years ago! Then, they screwed up "The Hill"...one of the greatest things about the Clemson fan experience. They tried to screw up running on the field, but the fans revolted. They have screwed up the game day atmosphere of the game itself, with the never ending on field recognitions...and I sadly feel it is only a matter of time before "Tailgating"...true tailgating is a thing of the past...I have been to a few of these CORPORATE tailgates...There is no comparison to tailgating with friends...and not just business connections. NO COMPARISONS!

He brought up a good point. When Clemson goes to the sec and doubles our tv income, Iptay will lower our seat equity charges, correct?
Hehehehe.

Lot 5

Someone else suggested this, and I think it’s a great idea: Cover lot 5( or leave it open air) and make that entire area officially inside the stadium. Open to everyone. Food, drinks, AC areas. TVs. The pros are doing this already and I remember Levi Stadium had something similar. Maybe some corporate areas as well.

Best quote from the video is...
"Who talks about their tailgating experience at the super bowl?"
Just think about it.

I'm not sure I understand what he is saying. Is he saying that if you park your car you aren't allowed to tailgate? Or is he saying that OU is taking some parking spaces and selling them to foot trucks and other companies who will come in and sell you food?
If it is the latter, well, isn't that just one of the consequences of cpitalism?
He's saying that fans are getting shafted. I don't see it. If attendance goes down, then OU will adjust. If fans don't buy food from the vendors, then vendors will quit paying for those spots.
Fans do benefit when revenue goes up for the athletic department. They can pay coaches more, thus getting better coaches. They can improve facilities, thus getting better players. They can hire more support staff, thus helping recruiting.
Fans want wins. Wins cost money. Somebody has to pay that money. And, included in that somebody is fans. When fans quit paying to the point that revenue goes down, OU will adjust. But, as long as revenue goes up and fans keep selling out the games, what is the problem?

I watched the video, did not understand the problem, so researched.
My understanding. If this is incorrect, I apologize. Oklahoma requires a minimum of $4000 a year to obtain a parking pass to a Sooner Club parking lot. The folks giving less than $4000 a year park in other public areas. It appears that some of the “other public areas” are being taken to form the paid tailgates.
As we all know, IPTAY assigns parking passes to folks at a much lower level than $4000 a year. I feel like this is an apples/oranges type problem.

I think the Smoking Pig trailer near the west gate is the first example of this.
