Anybody else seen "insider" reports from coot websites claiming that Jeff Scott told Tom Herman to not take the SC job? I just saw something about it on twitter. The coots will make up anything

Herman turned them down. They have to blame it one something or someone which, in their feeble minds, is better than the truth that the job isn't very appealing to most head coaches with long-term career aspirations.

Nick f'n Saban could be the next coach at usuc and they still wouldn't win the sec . Two legendary coaches couldn't win the sec at usuc . What makes you think ole tom is going to change that ? He took over a good Houston team that was 8 and 5 the year before.

from taking the usc job, even though Herman would likely double his Salary if he did take it.
No wonder he's such a great recruiter.

There is some upside to the job...
1. If you have enough name recognition you can weather a win less, or even a pair of single win seasons without too much turmoil...so low expectations
2. Not a lot of criticism of your game management, since most fans only stay/watch till halftime and only see half the game anyway
3. You can drink on the job or afterwards during TV shows and no one cares
4. Every street becomes your potential personal urinal, with the blessing of the University
5. You get a 60' banner
6. Players allowed up to 1/2 dozen infractions, so none of those pesky disciple or conduct rules a lot of other schools impose on you.
7. You can quit whenever you want and no one seems to care/mind
8. 100's of rabid, supportive fans at every home game
9. Scenic stadium views with easy access to trash dump/meth lab
10. Zero pressure to win on your own, and shared nation Championships when Alabama wins

They think the "glory years" under spurturd should be the norm. The new head coach will be run out of town with 7 or 8 win seasons, especially if he loses to Clemson.
I would rather take the Miami job out of the available openings. So much talent. Plus if I got fired, it's Miami, not Columbia
