I really don't like that word "equity" either. It implies black people are somehow "owed" something due to historical inequality. And that is often followed by calls for "reparations".

No, no, and no. For starters: my family ran from Germany - in the 30's. They were part of a farm labor union, which the SS really did not like, and as such wound up about fourth on Hitler's list just behind the Jews, Gypsies, and Communists. So my family was in no way part of that "historical inequity"...but I'm supposed to pay reparations to people my family never wronged because I'm white? That's beyond dumb. Also, how far do you think I'd get if I went running back to Germany with my hand out demanding "reparations" for what the German Nazis did to my family? Really far, I'm sure.

You don't fix the past by hosing people in the present. All we can do is be better humans going forward.

So I do like the switch, if not necessarily the furor and venom behind some of the CRT junk, on either flank.
