Why would the ACC re-negotiate the buyout if the GOR is

Iron-clad? If it’s not iron-clad, then FSU would just leave and try to get out of the buy-out.
Plus FSU would actually be taking a loss (if accounting for the ACC revenue) for the foreseeable future with that payout.
Just doesn’t make sense all around.

What maroon negotiated to pay a total of three times that?
Maybe 5 payments of 25 mil but, 30 mil for ten years? Idiots!

Lets do some math.

Stay in ACC, get 30M per year.
Leave ACC, get 60M per year, pay 30M in GOR. Net 30M. Compete against B1G or SEC teams with a 30 million dollar deficit every year.
Why am I thinking that's not such a good deal?

Even worse, ACC is like $38M, not $30M.***

Because the revenue projections continue to increase in the B1G over the next ten years. The money will be bigger with FSU, Clemson, Oregon, and Washington in the B1G. Plus, the B1G will be a stable home. You stay in the ACC there is no increases in revenue and other schools can negatively recruit because Clemson and FSU are in a dying, garbage conference. It’s a no-brainer, cuck.

of money will go up with new contract due to addition of supposed 4 teams.
Again, ACC contract is locked in for much longer.
On surface it makes sense if true.

I agree, the idea of taking that kind of a deal would not be a choice I made. As far as income, I'd imagine adding FSU to the Big 12 would be quite a jump in TV revenue which would probably give FSU a little more but not enough to suit me.

Not just that, but there’s no way the ACC survives an exit of FSU and Clemson. It will try and piece together some crappy teams but it won’t likely survive the 10 years.

It means that FSU is placing a bet that the ACC will dissolve in 2 to 4 years.
No more conference = no more payments.
Risky but not exactly a sucker's bet.

Could also be factoring in the financial situation at ESPN.

"The Atlantic Coast Conference Board of Directors today announced that it has endorsed a success incentive initiative that will begin during the 2024-25 academic year," the conference said in a statement.
"The specifics of the plan are in progress and will be solidified in the coming months. Under this initiative, the implementation of the success incentives will come solely from the performance of teams in revenue generating postseason competition. All other revenues will continue to be equally shared as currently outlined."
