The Braves and Rays are both 99.9% guaranteed to be in the playoffs... so this three game series is a yawn.
Their owners benefit from a bigger gate and bigger merchandise sales, but the fans don't really benefit.
Wake me up in October. Never wake me up for the NBA.

I can watch useless football games, useful football games, USFL Football games, XFL Football games, NCAA Football games, Clemson Baseball and Basketball games and do them all every chance I get. On the other hand, you cannot force me to watch the NBA, NFL or MLB. Can't stand all the immature showboating and narcissists on parade. They are like watching children play, except they have over-developed bodies with minds that ceased to mature at about age 12.

I think baseball has always been about obviously wanting to have a good record, but certain players that are just simply entertaining to watch. Yes, if I watch Braves and Dodgers it may not matter as in a win or loss will keep you out of the playoffs, but watching strider against mookie, watching acuna hit 2 HR and stealing a base is just fun to watch. Base is an appreciative sport definitely.
If you want do or die every week, you just don't like baseball.

Wouldn’t the Braves and the Nationals be a yawn as opposed to the 2 best teams in baseball? And how , when the schedule was made ,did MLB know the Braves and Rays would be the 2 best teams?

I somewhat concur! Too many games in both sports, doesn't matter if they win today.
Only 2 MLB teams have hit .700 winning percentage since going to 162 games. I forget first team but it was long long time ago. The second was the 90's yanks did this once.
Any sport where you can win barely over .500 and be called great playoff team, then that is not my sport. MLB and NBA play too many games and are over paid.
Honestly, I think the new generation that cannot sit for 5min without phone or computer will bring an end to sports as we know them as the attention spans falter with distractions.

Both teams want to prove themselves. I agree that regular season games are not as significant as they used to be when only one team made the World Series and there were no playoffs, but neither team wants to admit that the other is better.

pitch clock now. Years back they didn't like Glavine and Co ruling the MLB when they over shrunk the strike zone. Now from season to season they decide do they want pitching or HRs. Drugs to increase HRs and MLB not really doing anything didn't help.

Even if you played baseball 160 or something makes baseball boring sport. Only good thing ever done for baseball was expanding playoffs with wild card teams. Remember back in Atlanta's first hayday one year they make playoffs 2nd place team behind them has 100 wins missed playoffs with some division winners barely 500. NBA too many playoff teams some of their wildcard teams barely 500

I can agree on the NBA portion as I have not kept up with that since the Bull’s glory days, but I love to watch good and bad baseball. If the Braves are playing I want to watch. Watched during many of their lean years so I’m definitely going to be watching when they are legit contenders. Also these 2 teams could be there in the end.

Once Queen James got into the league started going down hill. NBA always used officials to try to make the Queen play in title games. Which cost SA Spurs last several years with Duncan? They try to pick final 2 before playoffs get started. NBA adding the play in tourney to get Lakers in really tanked their brand like NASCAR did when they started Chase format. Where all you have to do is win one race a year to make the playoffs.

MLB hasn't been the same since only 2 teams had SuperStations. When visiting my grandpa in SC if baseball season he was always watching TBS or WGN Braves and Cubs.

MLB is better than it used to be. Before the wildcard and extra divisions most teams were out of the playoffs before the all-star game.
