While that may be true, if that's all you focus on then what's the point of watching any games until the last one? The journey getting there is just as important and interesting to discuss

That's true if you run the table but not so if it comes down to teams with 1 loss. Then it depends a lot of times on where you started. If you start high and lose, you don't have as much ground to make up as if you start lower and fall out of the top 25 (as we would if we lost to Louisville at 19th).

I can assure you if we lose 1 game, we will not make the cut, regardless of our preseason rank. Not until we do a natl championship run plus have a couple of follow up seasons in the playoffs will we get the respect to lose 1 game and still be in the hunt.

I would argue that an LSU team that went 8-5 last season and still has no QB has absolutely no reason to be ranked in the TOP FIVE TEAMS IN THE NATION. That's just ridiculous. They actually got shut out by Arkansas last year. At least Ole Miss' defense looked legit until the bowl game. LSU was a joke all year.

I think tcu is overhyped because they crushed a very decent ole miss team in a bowl game.

They bring back 16 starters from last season

That's 10 returning starters on an offense that averaged almost 47 points per game last year.
And 6 returning starters on a defense that only gave up 19 points per game last year and is generally the stronger of the 2 units for Patterson.
They also return their starting kicker and punter.

Top 10 after finishing 6-6 in a highly overrated sec west. No recent good seasons in last three years. No recruiting classes ranked in top 20 over past four years. That is a huge headscratcher.
