NAACP Boycott
May 28, 2014, 6:59 AM
|
|
The NAACP has a boycott in effect in the state of SC, which has stopped the ACC Baseball Tourney, NCAA Basketball Regionals and who knows how many other events.
Yet, it is OK for Black Biker Week to occur at Myrtle Beach???
Can someone explain this?

Nobody is subject to any of these private organizations in their personal lives. In this case, the bikers are free to vacation in Myrtle Beach,SC and not bound by any silly ### boycott.

ensure no "intolerance" takes place. they call it "operation biker justice" or something along those lines.
naacp is given power by the nc2a, the acc, but none by the biker group so their "power" becomes discretionary because the bikers wouldn't honor the boycott. shouldn't the naacp be landblasting the black bikers for not honoring the struggle?
hey, the black bikers need a place to be & it is the week following "harley week" so it makes sense, right?

The ACC boycott of SC is the reason the baseball, tennis, and golf tournaments will not be held in SC. The ACC can lift its boycott of our state whenever it wishes and does not need NCAA approval. The Big South and Southern conferences have no problem having events in SC. The only thing the NAACP does in support of the boycott is to hold its annual convention in Charlotte. They do not try to convince conventions or new industries and businesses to boycott SC. No members of the General Assembly even bother to introduce bills to remove the flag from the Capitol grounds. I think it is time for Clemson's new president and athletic director to pressure the ACC to remain supportive of the effort to remove the flag, but remove the ban on off campus events in SC. After all the only people hurt by the ACC are fans of college sports, particularly Clemson fans. It seems the ACC is punishing one of its members, a charter member, for something over which it has no control.

It seems like it tends to mostly be old-fashioned/older people that can't deal with change. On the flipside, I knew very few rassist kids when I went to Clemson 2004-2009. Though I've seen quite a few in the boonies in the lowcountry.
So basically once all of you old rassists die out, we'll be mostly in good shape.

to the NAACP and have tournaments and events in our state. Why is there not a White or Native American History Month? If so, they would boycott that because it would have more days than February. i personally don't care for the KKK and/or the NAACP. It hasn't been that long ago that Black bikers complained that many of the establishments in MB closed for BBW because they didn't want their business destroyed or to put up with the BS. But I think they have complied to BBW more these days.
Fact: The NAACP sucks and is the most racist organization on the planet. Fact: Putting the "White" label on anything is racist. Fact: Putting the "Black" label on anything will draw the ire of every Black person on the planet if a White person complains about it. (Examples: FUBU, Harlem Globetrotters, Black History Month, Black Entertainment TV, Miss Black USA, etc are all acceptable).
Fact: Calling White CLEMSON FB players White Chocolate is acceptable - because he is almost as good as a Black FB player.
Don't even get me started on the depth of racism from the Black community and the NAACP only promotes it. That includes Obama ("That could have been my son"). Ignoring the facts only makes it worse. Until this country realizes that we have a problem, it will continue to be a problem. White people are too nice. Maybe someday, possibly when it's too late, White people will open their eyes and see what is happening across our beautiful land.
That said - I'm okay with "Black" everything - as long as the NAACP and Blacks (includes Obama) don't complain and b-itch about every dayum thing that Whites do. Get the heck over it already and move on. It's been 300+ freaking years.

backwards to find a plausible premise.
Do you truly think such a large organization wishes to work itself out of a job by concluding racism no longer presents an obstacle to advancement?
Too much money is a stake. And for that reason they will continue to start with a conclusion and then find a premise. Relevance, whether manufactured or not, assures money stream for the organization.

Should we just bury the past like it never happened?

May 28, 2014, 10:05 AM

Most black people view the confederate flag the same way that Jewish people view a swastika. Do you see swastikas flying on government owned property in Germany? The answer is no. It is a symbol of their heritage, but they realize what the symbol represents and banned it. In my opinion the confederate flag should not be banned for citizens, but it definitely should not be flying on government property.

property, out of respect for your fellow SC citizens that don't want this particular symbol flying in their faces. That flag is like a giant middle-finger salute to a large number of tax-paying citizens of SC (not me, I don't care)...the state should take it down.
I actually think the memorial in Cola would be a stronger symbol without the flag...the war's over and the flag has been lowered.
The flag represents nothing to me and I've lived in the south my entire life and had family fight for that flag. Just my opinion, though.

In no way would removing the flag from the statehouse grounds infringe on anyone's rights.
They could even remove it with an honor guard and retire it. Maybe they could put it back up for Confederate Memorial Day and have a ceremony...keep the crazies happy.

Just put me down as against the battle flag being on public property. I'm not against anyone flying any flag they like on private property.
If y'all just have to have a flag on that memorial, replace it with an actual flag of the Confederacy...not the "stars and bars".

Meant to say the battle flag. The stars and bars "was" the actual 1st flag of the Confederacy and would be appropriate on the memorial.

PC is out of hand. Who really cares about the flag? No one I know sits around debating this crap except white people. Quit feeling guilty, forget about it and move on. To compare the flag to the swastika is absolutely idiotic. If I was Jewish I would be offended!!!!!!!

is the soldier's flag. The issue lies in the fact that the soldier's flag was misused during the Civil Rights era and misused by the KKK (who also carry the US flag and a cross). Sadly, the NAACP uses the flag as a distraction because its easier than solving real problems.

hate groups have misused a banner that many brave men fought and died under. They have done the same with the cross of Christ.....but you don't see folks clamoring to have it relegated to a museum. This is such a such a complex cultural and political issue....the ncaa getting involved makes absolutely no sense.
