I keep hearing "all you have to do to beat Clemson

is put pressure on Boyd." Isn't that what LSU tried to do last bowl season. How did that work out. I don't know if Boyd will or even should win the Heisman but he is still a dang good QB. Beat BC!

I think one of the things that surprises opposing coaches

about Tajh is his toughness. He doesn't give a first impression of being able to endure the rough part of the game of football, but all Clemson fans have seen him take some big hits and get right back up and and back at it....as you mentioned, he got worked over in the LSU bowl game in Jan. and proved to be the difference maker with an incredible throw to Nuk late in the 4th quarter after having absorbed everything the LSU defense could throw at him.

IMO, Clemson fans were very fortunate the many twists and turns of fate led Tajh ultimately to our beloved university.

No one should be surprised Tajh is one of the

toughest players on the field. Dude played with a torn ACL his senior year of high school.

Agree, but I guess it depends on the collateral damage sometimes with an ACL. Wake Forest had an O Lineman playing last year with a torn ACL. It would have to be like an ACL tear only without much additional damage to the cartilage and other ligaments.

And even then, I'm sure it carries additional risks and I wouldn't do it. Some of these guys love to play though.

My personal unprovable theory is RGIII had a torn ACL before the Seattle game last year and they either didn't realize it or thought he could play anyway. The hit where he injured his knee originally last year just looked like the type that would cause an ACL, much more so than when he collapsed in the playoff game.

I tore my ACL junior year at Clemson, continued to play

all intramural and recreational sports on it until my first week at an engineering firm when I twisted my knee wrong playing Ultimate Frisbee.

If there is no cartilage damage, it's not that hard to tough through it, my knee would hurt after work outs, but it wasn't bad. After I had my injury at work, it tore my meniscus pretty bad, which it constantly hurt after that and required for me to finally get surgery.

I also blame Red Fern for guaranteeing me that I didn't tear my ACL whenever I did.

Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. Wear glasses if you need 'em - The Webb Wilder credo

A team would have to pressure him enough to

Oct 11, 2013, 3:52 PM

frustrate him for a full game. That is hard to do. In his younger days, he'd get rattled, see a D that couldn't stop anybody, then press. Now, even if off a bit, one big play can get rid of the cobwebs. This year he's always found that play.

I think this used to be true but not of late

Oct 11, 2013, 3:53 PM

No QB looks good when guys are untouched. Boyd is brilliant if he even had 2 good seconds.

That would apply to most quarterbacks.
Take Tom Brady.Yes,I know he is a pro,but in his
two SuperBowl losses, that is what the Giants did. They put pressure on him.
Take our game against UGA.When we pressured Murray,we caused problems. However when we let up he picked us apart.
What happened last season against LSU was odd to say the least. They couldn't phase Boyd. And when they did get to him,or hit him,he seemed to get up with a smile on his face.
There are a lot of good QB's on the college landscape.
Winning the Heisman will come down to a lot of factors. All Boyd has to do is keep winning, and not worry about the others.

Pretty sure the only pressure that effects Tajh is the

pressure he puts on himself.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True IMO-- He tends to run too quick or throw too high

Oct 11, 2013, 9:14 PM

when things start getting uncomfortable.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Syracuse tried that...

Oct 11, 2013, 9:39 PM

The result was 5 long TD passes...one of which, a 91 yard bomb to Sammy. Blitz away....
