So ND was one of the worst passing teams in the country last year. So we know that and have some of the best DL and LB talent we have ever had yet they run it down our throats all game.
What does this say about our defensive coaching?

We got out coached all over the field that night. Doesn't matter what they were bad at. Honestly comes down to a conservative game plan we had IMO and underestimated the energy and talent. Very rare for this program, I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Happens to Saban too every now and then.

Do you think Brent let's a team that can't throw run on his defense? Our 2021 D with BV coaching would've completely shut down that ND offense and kept us in the game.

I get what you’re saying…did the defense play terrible that night??? No…but ND physically whipped out #### on both sides…we tend to take that better on offense but we are not used to seeing it on defense…bottom line that our defense was either extremely overated talent wise all year or we simply didn’t come close to performing to our abilities..:we were supposed to have a dominate defensive line, like UGA the year before…that never happened…our second level was very good…yet teams ran on us…teams passed on us because we couldnt get pressure on QB’s, especially with just our down four…it was a good defensive year for us but it was not GREAT and certainly wasn’t dominate … players, coaches, coordinator, play caller…whoever is to blame (I assume there’s some for each area) … it wasn’t the dominance that was anticipated by fans and media preseason, that’s for sure…ND revealed that in a physical way…Tenn and s car revealed it also…

The good news for the Defense is Mugubu is healthy and back at safety; Trotter and Carter are returning as stars; Peter Woods will admirably replace Bresee or Murphy as a DL starter; Mickens is healthy; the DB's have a little more experience; and Riley, Cade and RB's will upgrade Offense ability to stay on the field.

In my mind it was unnecessary use of stunts By front 7
ND Oline is good and experienced they were able to pick them up and get a shoulder on them using that momentum to move them off thus making a hole. We needed more straight up taking on the blocker play in that game.
Tried to hard to overwhelm them with speed and just got pushed on using the players momentum
There is a ground level replay somewhat early in the game where ND runs off tackle to our right and dt is going inside and lb is moving to the gap and get side shouldered by OL that doesnt bite on the DT

They only had like 350 yards of offense, it was a snowball effect of our terrible offense. It started with a block punt for a TD and they got a 96 yrd pick 6. Defense would've been fine if the offense had a slight pulse in that game. But then again, that was the offense the majority of the last 2 seasons.

To me this stat, the rushing defense in one game (although no stats were provided) is proof Wes is in over his head. Why is Dabo not doing anything?
