Do you think we consider grabbing a QB out of the portal for some depth and competition?

Heard Oregon State’s QB was in the portal, might be good to snag for some experienced depth.

Even if the coaches are fully confident in Cade. We need to protect ourselves in case Cade goes down with an injury. Vizzina is still young and raw. Tyson(if he returns) only has experience standing on the sideline. Probably need a QB who has shown the ability to win games.

Dabo loves Cade. And I can see him being a lot better next year, especially with an improved OL and WR core surrounding him.

I can't see us bringing in a QB that would start over him. I would expect another veteran like Hunter Johnson and Paul Tyson. Vizzina's development from now until the start of next season is big. You always need a reliable backup QB.

One concern I have, and I know there were a lot of factors that influenced it, was that Cade did not show that much development or progress throughout the year. The issues at the beginning of the year seemed to still be there at the end of the year. I guess I'm just a little concerned that he may not develop as much or as fast as we might think or hope.

However, I also know that if we bring in real competition, Dabo may be concerned about pushing him into the portal. Kind of a tough call for sure.

Wonder if he is looking to join his old OC (Jeff Lebby) at Miss State?? Maybe he's unhappy with BV's OC position selections from within the program?? Other than a money grab - not sure why he would leave OK...

After watching the conference championship games this weekend, I think it showed the type of QB play that is needed to compete and win in college football. Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr and Jalen Milroe were the examples. I realize all of them are older than Cade but they also look more athletic, stronger and faster. Unless during the off-season Cade is divinely blessed with some great infusion of talent, I just don't see him having want it takes to win a CFB title. With that in mind, I think it's time to bring in some legit competition at QB and let the chips fall where they may. Competition brings out the best in an athlete. The good thing is that it won't take long to see Cade's progress for next season. The opening game against UGA will tell us a lot.
