One drive doesn’t prove Cade is ready

I would have liked to see them play him in the first half with the starters.
I thought for sure he would go in after the second drive but I can see why they didn’t.
DJ did start slow but no reason to kill his confidence in the 1st quarter of the first game.

Maybe not, but it for showcased that the kid has skills. He definitely passed the eye test. Quick, decisive, accurate arm. There seemed to be a lot more urgency to the offense in the one drive he had.

He also elevated the offenses play. That drive was the best the O looked the entire game.

For some reason DJ has become the Hillary Clinton of Clemson… no matter what he does or how he does it ,the people in charge think it’s great, nothing is wrong with it and the rest of us don’t know a dang thing about performance. He looks slow, hesitant or rushed ,one sighted and obvious when handing the ball off .A bit better then last season but a good team will read him from a mile away.

I agree but he’s big and has a great arm. If he ever gets comfortable like he was against ND a couple years ago he can take us all the way with that defense.
I think it’s a little too early to throw in the towel for a true freshman.

Designed series in first and second quarter for Cade to work with the starters, because it’s just a smart move.
Seems like we did this against TAMU with Trevor and KB still came back in and performed well.
I just don’t see how we can justify not taking a look.

Cade needs at least 3-4 possessions per game. For that to happen, DJ has to play well enough to stake out a big lead by the 3rd quarter. As yesterday showed, that could be a problem. I am very grateful for two blocked punts.
I guess the main thing is as long as we keep winning until Cade takes over, all is good.
It should be very clear to everyone we are not a legit contender with DJ. Any championship hopes we have rest on Cade's development.

He played with the players he practiced with. That's step #1. This week he will practice more with starters and we'll see him earlier in Saturday's game. That's step #2.
Step #3 will be when we see him play against a D1 defense if we actually face one this season.
Please don't think less of me but I look forward to him starting in game 4 or perhaps 5. I'm sure he will but that's my opinion. As far as looking forward to it, I fully believe he can produce more offense for Clemson at quarterback better than anyone else on our team this season.
That is my opinion and I hope it doesn't offend.

They gave Deshaun every 3rd drive starting game 1 against UGA. I know DJ is no Cole Stoudt but I expected Cade to at least see a meaningful series or two.

Cade better get ready quick because DJ didn't look any better than he did last year. I hope he improves, but DJ's current play won't beat ND or Miami and will make NC State another nail-biter.
