Optional WR routes

Watched the spring game replay

Cade threw the pick on a play where he and Adam Randall weren’t on the same page.

Dabo explained the WR can run two routes based on the alignment of the defense. He goes on to explain they clearly weren’t on the same page.

This just seems like a recipe for disaster. There are smart defensive coordinators and players out there that mix up and disguise their coverages. You look out to the right and see the db 10 yards off the line and then you look out left before taking snap the and the right side DB runs up and plays press man coverage. What’s the route? Who the #### knows?

The QB saw one thing pre snap and the wr saw another thing. That’s a lot of pressure on the QB to make that post snap recognition especially if that’s a second or third option on a check-down

It’s the spring game, so I know they are trying stuff out, but that whole concept seems like a train wreck waiting to happen

Successful OCs have their QBs and WRs run optional routes routinely

Exactly. What’s supposed to be easy or pitch and catch is made to look hard because Cade is so bad. I genuinely feel like he’s the worst and easily the dumbest of any QB I can remember. Maybe better than Proctor but dumber than all

And what did you think of DJU? Decision making and pocket presence?

And, when you are playing against an offense that you practice against every day, you know every formation and possible play that can be called . That makes the defensive coach more prepared to disguise what they are going to do.

And the defense doesn’t respect your run game, because your best running is sitting it out. Pretty easy to game plan against.
