OT:what else is there to talk about Best Concert LittleJohn

1977 Doobie Bros with Pablo Cruise -
After the Notre Dame game where we were up 17-7 in 3rd and lost to the Joe Montana-led Fighting Irish- 21-17. A heartbreaker---but it was a SPARK! Same as the concert that night!
Boston- can't recall the exact year..Everyone said that Boston sucked Live because of their studio effects...they tore LittleJohn down....Or maybe just me

some other great ones in the early seventies too! The Allman Brothers WITH Duane Allman...twice. Chuck Berry, and his TWO opening acts were Lynyrd Skynyrd and Marshall Tucker. Rod Steward, right after Maggie May was a big hit! Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Chicago, the James Gang(Joe Walsh was great!) You can talk about who was there in other years, but you won't top the line-up from 70-72! There were other great bands too...I just hit the highlights!

I remember all of those.I was there from 70 -74 and if I remember correctly there was: 1.Rufus w/ Chaka Khan, Marshall Tucker and Chuck Berry.. 2. 2 weeks later there was Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker and Cheech and Chong 3. Another good one was Uriah Heap, Buddy Miles and Deep Purple

I'm pretty sure Rufus was with Chuck Berry. He even used Rufus' musicians as his backing band because he showed up without a band due to his tax problems at the time.

Great comments about the good old days and the bands we saw… My husband was president of the CDA in 1972 and on the junior staff in 1971.

I know that, because I graduated in spring 72, and it was not too long after their big hit with Maggie May, which was released in May 1971.

I remember they had to keep doing retakes with the line about Eddie Rabbit being in a room full of Tigers, but don't remember if that made the TV special later in the fall.

Thanks. I didnt remember seeing the Harcombe show. I do the Ampitheater show. About 7 of us dressed as greasers and walked down the hill by the stage before the show started. The front row cleared to let us sit. The one's that moved were POd when Flash came on stage!

I remember the Stones in 89. Raced back from thanksgiving at home. It was a good concert, but i remember the arguing among the members on stage. Camping out for the tickets was as much fun as the concert. I had a tent and several of the guys from the hall took turns holding the spot for several days.
As for Littlejohn, Ozzy always puts on a great concert. Alice in chains opened. I saw Metallica about 10 times in that timeframe, but dont remember if they were there. Saw marshall tucker and a few others in LJ. Chicago had a great concert.

A little off topic but who went to what I call " The Woodstock concert that time forgot " at Charlie B's Ranch outside Seneca in August 73 ? I think there were other concerts at the Ranch but Fleetwood Mac headlined this one. I never heard the story about the concert till 2011 and I wasn't sure I believed it till I did some searching and came up with stories that I googled. Blew me away .At the time (73 ) I was 6 and coming down to Seneca from NYC for 8 weeks with my mom who is from Seneca .To me at 6 this area was quiet .We didn't get much further than downtown Seneca and Walhalla and a trip to the State Park above Walhalla was a big deal.I remember everything being green with corn fields and cow pastures.Pretty rural which was why I found it hard to believe that we had our oven version of Woodstock right here .One guy in a story I found said marijuana and anything else was so easy to be had the cops just turned a blind eye.He said he saw another guy offer a toke off a joint to a cop and the cop just politely declined .Still hard for me to imagine now when I think back how rural it was here then.

David Lee Roth & Cinderella, think it was like 1986, Steve Vai on guitar was incredible.
Wish they would have more concerts in the Memorial stadium, a Metallica concert would be epic.

Saddest Concert at Clemson

Atlanta Rhythm Section played a free concert at the amphitheater one year when I was there - 90 or 91, most likely. There weren't even 100 people there, maybe not even 50. Pretty sad. They played well, put on a decent show, but with no crowd, it just ended up being pretty dang pathetic!
