Riley was smart. They lost 99% of their passing yards, 75% rushing yards and 80% of their catches from last year so how good can they be. Coach V will get it done but rebuilding is hard. The cup was empty.

Totally agree but does the OU fanbase understand that... Or even if they do understand it, how long will they except it. My opinion is not long.

Not long is right. Ya gotta at least show up and 49-0 is not showing up. That was one of the worst-coached OU teams to take the field in a long time. Cant see him making it thru year 2.

Well, per Rivals he had the #8 recruiting class in the country (ahead of Clemson at #10). He only signed 22 players so that means that everyone did not flee to USC. The facts are that 3 players that went into the portal went to USC. In addition Lincoln Riley, had a terrible HS recruiting class. He only signed 11 players and was rated outside the top 50. So he's winning with 13 transfers taken out of the portal and is undefeated. That's basically a one year turnaround. Coach Venables was also busy in the portal taking 15 players to go with his top ten recruiting class. The results of these efforts speak for themselves so there's no need for excuses.

feel bad for him. He constantly said he didn’t want the stress and pressures of a head coaching position. He had it made in the shade for as long as he wanted at Clemson. Now there’s no going back and it seems he is struggling with the reigns of a blue blood P5 team that has been right in the mix of the CFP almost every year. Hope he can turn things around but man how sweet was life at Clemson…..

I love coach V but don’t feel sorry for him.

He is big boy and knew what he was doing. I am pulling for him big time to succeed. But if it doesn’t work out he will be just fine.
He, his family and grand children are taken care of for rest of their lives.

As if BV didn't already have enough money from his super-high paid asst. coach job at Clemson, he HC job sets him up for life.
Fired or not, BV really has it made now ... as long as he doesn't quit. He won't quit, and will get his full buy out after (or maybe during) 2023 season.
He made the correct decision by leaving.

I don't feel sorry for anyone that makes 7 million per year as a HC and over 2 million per year as a coordinator. He makes more than double in one season than I made in my lifetime. I've never experienced it (some luck and some planning) but some say real stress is not knowing how your going to pay your next months rent or buy groceries. All in all, FBS head coaches are very fortunate to have such a job. How many on the board get 5 to 10 year contracts with their salary guaranteed? My contract was day to day and I was reminded of that on a frequent basis. BV may grow a few ulcers but if things go south he will bank a fortune and drop back and be a DC at another top program ala Will Muschamp.

Sooner forum was ready to take his scalp after game....they even talked about him not speaking in complete sentences....the $$$ is always greener on the other side of the fence till u see tur_ds Coming to the surface cause it’s a sewage field. Ain’t no coach made it look easy unless they were very talented and trusted. Get a 100 hung on you in two games and your n a hurricane...

It's a throwaway year for OU.

Next year will matter to BV.
Losing their #1 QB to SoCal and their #2 to the other USC didn't help.
It's to soon to tell if he's HC material or not
