They come and go. USC early 2000s, Miami early 2000s, Ohio State with all of their charges around the same era, Florida with their murderers and racists. UGA will fade with their issues. I don't know why people see Kirby as more of a Nick Saban than an urban meyer. The only consistent mainstays have been Clemson and Alabama and I think anyone who argues on the consistency of each programs is braindead and probably pulls for other teams in their conference.
When we look back in 30 years, the programs will fade. Dabo and Saban will be looked upon as the mainstay consistent programs, like PSU and FSU with Paterno and Bowden. Obvious edge to Bama but I bet that's what it looks like.

stays a good program and Dabo remains the coach.
But, I honestly do not think Georgia is going anywhere. Kirby is certainly not my favorite but he is in his 40s.
That is terrifying for college football. Just being real.

One of us will be right. Clemson's consistency and lack of NCAA trouble is the reason for my stance.

I cannot argue with your reasoning that with Kirby's program and age, despite my worries about off the field issues, cannot become another team that makes the CFP 6 years in a row like us. You've already matched our number of titles.

If you're comparing us to Paterno or Bobby, then fair. But when you talk about consistency, I think that's hard to say right now. We were one of the two best programs from 2015 to 2019. We had a number of players who played in both of our title wins and only 2 QBs in that time. Consistency to me means being one of the top 5 teams over a very long period and multiple roster turnovers.
Since the 2019 OSU, we do not have a good record against elite teams. We were walloped by LSU. We were beaten by ND when Trevor and ETN were out. We came back to beat them, then got blown out by OSU. The next year, our offense got smothered by UGA and we ended up missing the ACC championship. And last year, we got blown out by Notre Dame and Tennessee. It's a very stark contrast from our huge win record against top 10 teams in the previous 5 years.
Not saying we can't get back, but I think we have to return to the playoffs this year or the next. We don't have the power rangers and all these NFL receivers any more. Otherwise, I think we'll be considered a very good team, but not a consistently elite one.

Bad character choices and not getting things under control. After all, the university does have a reputation to be concerned about and not just winning in football. Abusing women, underage partying, reckless endangerment of others, etc cannot become what UGA stands for.

Can't separate scandals with success. Gotcha. Did you start watching football in 2008? Bowden/Paterno was the biggest debate among all time greats for a decade.

Well, I agree with your posts, but as can be seen in these posts, Joe-Pa has lost his reputation due to his lack of moral management of the program. I always had a lot of respect for him through the years, but I lost that when the cover was removed.

Paterno is an odd choice to include. Joe won two national championships in 46 years and when his name comes up, it isn't the wins or championships that come to mind.

Maybe that’s not what comes up in your mind. But it leads me to ask the same question thevalley484 asked above - Did you just start watching football in 2008? 2 championships is more than the vast majority of coaches ever win. Shoot, y’all are ready to crown Kirby as the goat and he has 2 as well. Paterno was head coach at Penn St for 45 years and has over 400 wins - most in FBS history. Not sure why that wouldn’t come to mind. As the head coach he was ultimately held responsible for everything in his program, but as I have said many times, I am a huge believer in personal responsibility and the ONLY person responsible for what Sandusky did is Sandusky.

When I started watching football has nothing to do with Paterno's reputation. It should be obvious why Paterno's winning pct. isn't the first thing people remember him for. Woody Hayes won five national championships. Know what he's remembered for? Punching a Clemson linebacker. Until reading your post, I don't think I've ever heard anyone other than a Penn State fan defend Paterno in that scandal.

What makes Dabo great is that he has achieved this level without scandal, without pushing limits like NIL, and continuing to make academics first priority. Before he ever won a national championship, I considered him the best coach Clemson ever had, and I feel far more strongly about that today. Smart will get his athletes, but those like Sammy Brown and Peter Wood will continue to choose Clemson because of the character of our coach and the culture he has built.

People are wasting time implying that Ga. lacks high character kids. Just not true. Maybe they have some problems but you don't win like they do without good kids. They have enough of them to win 2 straight natties. We need to be working on how to beat them in '25 and taking care of OUR business if we expect to be competitive with them.

Dabo's stubbornness to recruit highly character players while good in some ways also hurts recruiting by missing out on much better talent.

Seems legit. Then we can be like Florida and Ohio State and be worse off when urban Meyer leaves.
