Perhaps the ACC should sue ESPN for better terms vs schools sueing the ACC

After all, it’s about money. ACC is a STRONG conference, look where it’s at ! More leverage than you think. I would add UConn though to get that lucrative market, LOTS of Limousine Liberals there.

On what grounds would the ACC sue ESPN? People need to realize that A DEAL IS A DEAL. You just can't rewrite contracts because market conditions go up or down. Clemson is about to discover this.
The ACC needs to find a way to allow ESPN to reshuffle the deck so that it is making more money or at least the same amount of money in a new contract. Otherwise, the existing ACC-ESPN contract gives ESPN loads of content to spread across its ecosystem. It is getting a lot at good value. The only think I can think of is for the Big 12 to fold into the ACC as ESPN holds all of the rights to the ACC and most of the rights to the Big 12.
But the ACC just can't sue ESPN unless it has the law on its side. Sorry, a deal is a deal.

Well, whoever made that "deal" should be fired and ...

contracts can be broken ... was the person who signed the contract for the ACC intoxicated at the time ? Where they mentally incompetent ? Were they under 18 ? Any of this can make a contract null and void.
Any really, folding B12 into the ACC is a real good idea. It could be called 'merica's Conference. Mostly manly schools doing manly things in the prime of their manhood
Man I like that idea !

Wrong. You can't be serious with your examples-- President Barker wasn't drunk or mentally incompetent at signing. Plus, the incompetency has to be apparent to the other party in the deal, and yet the deal proceeds anyway.
Contracts can only be broken with a recognized contract defense. A change in market conditions is not a valid defense. What contract defense does Clemson have? Be serious.

The solution is simple, don't make it complicated ...

The ACC simply dissolves, same with B12 ...
They then reform as a new legal entity called say "The All Coast Conference". Now, it will be YUGE. Thusly, it really is more or a League than a Conference. However, the original B12 is one division in this League, the other division is the original ACC.
The demographics with this are YUGE, blows away SEC or B10.
Simply, if an entity dissolves prior existing contracts are essentially worthless. The "you can't get blood out of a rock" principle...
An example, from legal text ...
What happens to existing contracts after a business is sold? What Happens to Existing Business Contracts After a Business is Acquired? The new owner can assume or reject existing contracts when a business sells.
Using this example, the new "owner" of the All Coast conference paid two dollars for purchase of the ACC and B12. One dollar each. The new owner decides NOT to honor the old contracts and will instead, what kind of deal they could get for the Rights to cover All-Coast Conference games. Now, this entity will be so big and powerful may well decide to forget ESPN, and negotiate with say Fox, NBC whatever for media rights.
I am surprised ACC lawyers and B12 lawyers have not thought of this.

Contracts can’t be broken??? Pretty sure Clemson feels like the ACC broke the contract when they forcefully added three distant and mediocre schools to the conference and our schedules for the foreseeable future. 100% against Clemson’s will. Pretty sure Clemson wasn’t on board with accepting 50% less revenue from the expanded CFP than Vandy, UofSC, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois and Minnesota all will receive.

ESPN can end the thing in a year or two and I think the lawsuits are an attempt to make the situation so publicly ugly that they'll do just that.
